About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Market Risk Officer in Prime Services and Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) Risk Management function in Enterprise Counterparty Risk Management (ECRM).
Prime Services and FCM Risk Management is responsible for the daily risk management, margining framework, risk assessment and monitoring of counterparty credit risk generated by the Prime Services and FCM businesses.
The successful candidate will be a key leader in the team, engaged in the management and oversight of portfolio risk, new business evaluation, margining framework and risk analysis.

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Market Risk Officer in Prime Services and Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) Risk Management function in Enterprise Counterparty Risk Management (ECRM).
Prime Services and FCM Risk Management is responsible for the daily risk management, margining framework, risk assessment and monitoring of counterparty credit risk generated by the Prime Services and FCM businesses.
The successful candidate will be a key leader in the team, engaged in the management and oversight of portfolio risk, new business evaluation, margining framework and risk analysis.
In this role, you will:
- Provide independent oversight of counterparty risk across Prime Services and FCM (Futures Commission Merchant) activities, including futures, cleared swaps, and exchange-traded derivatives.
- Partner with the clearing business and operations, prime services business, liquidity management, and sales teams to understand business strategies and key risk drivers.
- Review and advise on risk-taking decisions, margin practices, client onboarding, and exposure management.
- Define and present FCM and Prime Services risk metrics-such as VaR, stress testing, and liquidity risk measures-to senior leadership and risk committees.
- Support regulatory examinations and internal audits through preparation of documentation, detailed analysis, and formal responses.
- Maintain and enhance risk governance frameworks, reporting processes, and procedures across client clearing businesses.
- Lead enhancements to counterparty credit risk methodologies, including exposure modeling, margin analysis (SPAN, VaR-based, and CCP methodologies), and stress-testing frameworks.
- Identify emerging market, liquidity, and concentration risks and escalate them through appropriate governance channels.
- Represent Prime Services and FCM Risk in enterprise risk forums, model governance reviews, stress-testing working groups, and new product approval processes.
- Partner with technology and data teams to strengthen exposure analytics, reporting capabilities, and data quality supporting cleared derivatives risk management.
- Lead and coordinate risk engagement during market stress events, ensuring timely exposure assessment, escalation, and senior-level communication.
- Mentor and guide junior risk officers, contributing to team development and strengthening overall risk culture within ECRM.
- 7+ years of market risk, Capital Markets, securities industry, trading, or interest rate risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Strong understanding of futures markets, CCP risk frameworks, SPAN margining, FINRA requirements, and derivatives lifecycle processes.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret, evaluate, and challenge risk models, stress-testing methodologies, and margin frameworks.
- Experience managing counterparty risk for clearing businesses, including FCM, prime brokerage, or market-maker clearing.
- Familiarity with third-party risk management systems.
- Knowledge of RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment) frameworks.
