About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Commercial Real Estate Relationship Manager for the Specialty Real Estate Finance Group (SREF) as an Underwriter who is responsible for the assessment of collateral for commercial real estate loans originated in SREF. This will be primarily hotel loans, but at times may vary and include seniors housing, medical office, life sciences, manufactured housing, mixed-use, land, with a number of facilities that may include construction, term, bridge, perm, lines of credit, etc., and loan structures that include recourse/non-recourse, secured/unsecured and mezzanine financing.
In this role, you will:
  • Complete thorough analysis of the underlying security or collateral associated with the commercial loan
  • Utilize analysis tools such as Co-Star, Argus, NIC MAP, and other data platforms
  • Review and use expert judgement to evaluate appraisal reports in accordance with all credit policies and guidelines to confirm that the property value is supported
  • Complete comprehensive collateral reviews and desktop valuations in a timely manner to meet service level expectations
  • Communicate/escalate issues to Credit Officers, Portfolio Managers, and Originators
  • Prepare credit memos and other documentation required in the presentation to credit committee
  • Remain informed and current on all WFB/CRE underwriting guidelines and policy updates
  • Maintain solid understanding of risk assessment and current knowledge of the industries within SREF; keep up to date with changes in the various real estate sectors and financial industry that may affect underwriting assumptions
  • Ensure a high level of customer service when meeting/speaking with clients
  • Collaborate with the Coverage Bankers and Portfolio Management team on all loan activity from new loan origination, loan modifications and monitoring of problem loans
  • Compile and develop reporting to senior management as needed
  • Provide guidance and training to junior underwriters

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Commercial Real Estate Relationship Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: CRE relationship management, CRE underwriting, or CRE credit administration
  • 5+ years of experience with hotels as an asset class and fluency in hospitality concepts and terminology
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong presentation skills with proven ability to articulate deal opportunities
  • Proficiency in complex feasibility analysis and loan underwriting practices
  • Experience with CRE due diligence, underwriting practices, loan structuring
  • Ability to collaborate successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial real estate operations
  • Knowledge and understanding of Regulatory Risk and Compliance policies and programs

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
