The Senior Investment Accountant ensures that investment accounting policies and procedures are correctly applied to financial transactions and reporting. This role partners closely with asset management, portfolio management and acquisition/disposition teams to support month-end and quarter-end close procedures, financial analysis, and GAAP-compliant reporting. The role provides technical expertise, prepares and reviews detailed financial analyses, and delivers reliable information to senior management to support informed decision-making and accurate asset valuation and accounting.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the month-end and quarter-end close reviews, including preparation and review of account reconciliations, analytical reviews, oversight testing procedures, and related documentation. Analyze financial results and ensure appropriate accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting guidance.

  • Prepare timely and accurate GAAP-based work papers and supporting schedules to satisfy all investment accounting requirements for internal and external audits. Collaborate with internal auditors, external auditors, and tax professionals to support reviews,

  • Review financial information for joint ventures and investments to ensure compliance with investment accounting policies and procedures, including transactions related to sales, acquisitions, debt refinancing, REIT restructuring, and ongoing financial performance.

  • Incorporate frequent ad hoc financial inquiries into the monthly and quarterly reports, adding value by providing management insight into the performance and activities of the underlying properties and investments.

  • Calculate and analyze portfolio and property-level performance metrics, including unlevered and levered returns, gross and net performance, and internal rates of return.

  • Provide guidance and technical support to junior Investment Accountants on complex accounting matters, including investment accounting policies and procedures.

  • Assist in the development, documentation, and ongoing enhancement of financial reporting, treasury, and segment-related processes and procedures. Support the maintenance of a strong internal control environment, including SOX compliance and control execution.

  • Participate in strategic initiatives and special projects, including system enhancements, process improvements, new product implementations, and asset management initiatives.

Base Pay Range: $76,300/yr - $101,000/yr

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
