The Senior Insurance Risk Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of the Company’s complex insurance programs that mitigate significant financial risks, including professional liability/technology errors & omissions, cyber, aviation, medical professional, international, marine, joint venture, property, general liability, workers compensation, defense base act, crime and contract specific policies.

The position will also be required to clearly articulate corporate insurance and risk management philosophy to the company’s senior management, legal and the organization’s business development and contract teams; identify and implement process efficiencies; develop and present training materials; and assist with contract and subcontract negotiations involving insurance requirements and related indemnification obligations. 

Position will develop plans to successfully integrate acquired companies into corporate insurance programs or manage stand-alone subsidiary programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

Position will serve as the SME in multiple complex and challenging insurance programs with a primary focus on US and International Casualty including Workers Compensation, General Liability, Auto Liability Employers Liability, DBA (Defense Base Act) and foreign liability programs.   The renewal process includes data gathering and consolidation, policy and payroll audits, invoice review and payment, premium allocations and negotiation of final premiums, terms and conditions.  The effective management of claims, highly focused on workers comp, general liability, auto liability and medical professional liability is required.  SME in contract and subcontract review and negotiation is essential to protecting the organization through contractual risk transfer.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance or related field

  • 12+ years’ experience working in a corporate risk management department, as an insurance broker, commercial underwriter or related insurance industry experience is required. 

  • Subject matter expertise and demonstrated ability to manage complex insurance programs and effectively communicate with brokers, underwriters, line organizational leadership, and senior management personnel. 

  • Proficiency with MS Office, IT systems, and risk management information systems

  • Leadership capabilities, strong business acumen, advanced organizational and analytical skills, and attention to detail while retaining a holistic focus, a must. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry designation such as ARM, CPCU, RIMS-CRMP or MBA in Finance or Risk Management

  • Experience placing or servicing large multinational corporations with complex programs, both with major domestic insurance markets and with London, Bermuda and other international markets.

  • Experience working for a large, multinational government contractor and working knowledge of U.S. Government FAR clauses a plus.   

  • Experience working with AI supported technology to drive efficiency in Risk Management, Insurance Broker or Insurance Carrier processes as plus.

  • Local to Reston, VA Headquarters

Travel:

  • 5%

Potential for Telework:

This position will be hybrid with potential for quarterly business travel to HQ and other locations as required.  Candidates will be considered for remote work with the right skill set and experience.

Pay Range:Pay Range $116,350.00 - $210,325.00
