What you’ll do: We’re a fast-growing start-up—so although the below are your primary responsibilities, we look for teammates who are constantly looking for more: More ways to better themselves, the company, and those around them.

As a DevOps Engineer at Guidewheel, you will be primarily responsible for: 

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and automated cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Develop, optimize, and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and ensure high availability of applications.
• Implement and manage container orchestration using Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm to support scalable microservices architectures.
• Enhance system observability and performance monitoring using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.
• Automate operational tasks, system monitoring, and cloud resource management with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Go.
• Implement and enforce security best practices across cloud infrastructure, including secrets management, policy as code, and cloud security tools.
• Support and improve GitOps methodologies and modern deployment strategies such as blue-green, canary, and feature flag releases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DevOps best practices into software development and IT operations.

Tech Stack Our stack includes the following technologies: Typescript, Node, Vue, PostgreSQL, Redis, Google Cloud. 

Who we want: The ideal next DevOps Engineer will have a proven winning record of over-achieving in the following skills and experiences:

• 7+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering role with a strong focus on Orchestration, automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (GCP preferred, but AWS or Azure is also fine), including Kubernetes and container orchestration (Docker, Helm).
• Proven experience in building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform (Preferred), CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Strong focus on monitoring, observability, and performance optimization using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver, or Datadog.
• Security best practices for DevOps, including secrets management, policy as code, and cloud security tools.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Go, or similar).
• Experience with GitOps methodologies and modern deployment strategies (blue-green, canary, feature flags).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex cloud-based systems.
• Excellent at developing API integrations with external systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote, fast-paced team environment.

Some Nice to Haves

• Experience with serverless computing frameworks (e.g., AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions).
• Hands-on experience with service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 as they relate to cloud security and DevOps.

Additional benefits include: 

• Fair & equitable pay. Annual on-target earnings for this role are in the range of $170,000-$185,000 USD for domestic hires. For candidates located outside of the US, compensation will reflect fair market trends for that location. All compensation is dependent on many factors and our internal compensation and role bands.
