About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer in Technology as part of the Secure Network Services, Firewall Development team supporting Wells Fargo's Firewall/Firewall Manager Automation processes. This role provides technical expertise in designing, developing, implementing, and managing automation solutions for Fortinet and Palo Alto Next-Gen Firewalls and Firewall Managers. The Senior Engineer will focus on driving innovation, mentoring team members, and collaborating across business units to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient automation solutions.
In this role, you will:
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls and firewall managers using Python and Ansible.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and enhance firewall automation processes, ensuring alignment with security policies and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to firewall configurations, automation scripts, and deployment pipelines.
  • Administer and manage Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls, including configuration changes, access management, and log analysis.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for firewall automation, ensuring scalability and reusability.
  • Conduct technical investigations and root cause analysis for automation failures or security incidents.
  • Review and optimize existing automation workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers on automation best practices, tools, and techniques.
  • Document automation processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps in Confluence and other knowledge-sharing platforms.
  • Support scheduled and emergency changes, validate post-change stability, and document outcomes.
  • Collaborate with peers, support teams, and leadership to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement in automation processes.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in firewall automation and security engineering.
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Information Security Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of experience with Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform, including developing and managing playbooks and roles.
  • 3+ years of experience with Python for automation, including scripting and API integrations.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting and managing firewall technologies (Fortinet and/or Palo Alto).
Desired Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience with Palo Alto Networks technologies, including advanced configuration, troubleshooting, and automation.
  • 3+ years of experience with Fortinet technologies, including advanced configuration, troubleshooting, and automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git) for managing automation workflows.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise security policies, governance, and compliance requirements.
