We're seeking a Fullstack Sr. Software Engineer with strong frontend experience to join our Top Gun squad, reporting to our Engineering Manager. This team drives key initiatives across the user experience, from expanding our insurance comparison tools to integrating with carrier partners and optimizing our customer journey.

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you’re beyond the basics. Please note - At this time, we are not able to hire in California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and New York.

What You'll Do:
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack applications and services within The Zebra.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and deliver new features.

  • Develop clean, reusable, testable code across backend and frontend codebases.

  • Drive technical design and architecture discussions.

  • Participate in code reviews and provide technical mentorship to other engineers.

  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve the codebase and processes.

  • Contribute to planning and prioritization, helping the team deliver predictably and effectively.

  • Act as a technical leader for the team and grow other engineers through example and mentorship

What We're Looking For:

As we evaluate candidates across all roles, we look for folks who have a strong sense of ownership, great communication and collaboration skills, and a dedication to continuous improvement.

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Expertise in both frontend and backend development.

  • Working proficiency in technologies such as:

    • Frontend: Javascript, React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS

    • Backend: Python, Django, or similar

    • Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB

    • Cloud & DevOps: AWS, GCP, Docker, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI)

  • Experience designing APIs and integrating with external systems.

  • Familiarity with secure coding practices, performance optimization, and testing frameworks.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn and grow.

Experience that will Impress the Heck Out of Us:
  • Experience with unit testing and TDD

  • A Github profile or public code portfolio

Benefits & Perks:

Inclusive and healthy environments are crafted intentionally. All of our employees can join and participate in (or create your own!) Employee Resource Groups. Here are some other wonderful perks of working here:

  • Competitive Compensation & Stock Option Offering

  • Health, Dental, Vision & Disability Coverages

  • HSA offering + employer contribution

  • Paid sabbatical program for tenured employees

  • 401k plan + employer match

  • Fertility support through Carrot

  • Unlimited PTO (paid time off)+ the flexibility to enjoy it

  • Paid Parental Leave Program

  • Wellness perk ($100/month)

  • Pet Adoption Reimbursement ($300/year)

  • Learning & Development Opportunities

  • Join a team that truly lives their values (outside of the office. Cliche, we know… but we mean it)

The salary range for this position is $140,000-$175,000 per year. The final salary amount will be determined based on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal equity, and insights gained throughout the interview process.
