Vantage is the FinOps platform built for modern engineering teams, trusted by thousands of organizations including Block, FanDuel, Vercel, Temporal, and CircleCI, to manage and optimize infrastructure costs across hyperscalers, cloud providers, and foundational models. We're passionate about building a cloud cost transparency platform that helps enable everyone, from developers to enterprises, analyze, report, collaborate on, and optimize their cloud spend. Together we are a high-output team of ~50 employees based in New York City with a remote-friendly culture.
Backed by $25M from Andreessen Horowitz and Scale Venture Partners, and prominent industry veterans: Matthew Prince (Co-Founder, Cloudflare), Calvin French Owen (Co-Founder, Segment), Ben and Moisey Uretsky (Co-Founders, DigitalOcean), Stephanie and Nat Friedman (CEO, Github), Julia Lipton, Brianne Kimmel and others.
About The Role:
You'll join a small, high-performing team of product engineers shipping across the full Vantage stack — core reporting, provider integrations, and billing/onboarding. We move fast: 10-20 production releases a day, with a backlog that's always groomed and prioritized.
We use Linear, Cursor, and Claude as core tools, not novelties. Lightweight processes (ADRs, async Slack huddles) allow us to be connected and co-ordinated without sacrificing quality. Your work will span new features, performance, scalability, and tech debt reduction, often in the same week. Very quickly after joining you'll see your work in our changelog (https://docs.vantage.sh/changelog)
We expect everyone to have a voice. If something's slowing us down or could be done better, you'll be expected to make a suggested improvement — iteration isn't just for code.
What You Will Do:
Work directly with our founders and collaborate on feature discovery, ideation and delivery.
Write clean, testable, peer-reviewed code
Drive technical architecture decisions to set the groundwork as Vantage scales into the future
Own end-to-end feature development - including measuring and reporting on customer impact
Join design and product on customer calls to understand user needs
What We're Looking For:
A product-oriented engineer with a passion for listening to and delighting customers
A strong technical background, including 5+ years of experience working on full stack codebases
Enjoy being a generalist working on both the frontend and backend
Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale
Someone who has led impactful engineering projects at non-trivial scale
Expertise in modern web language/frameworks; we use Ruby on Rails
Software design experience with architectures that have scaled from the simple to the complex
Someone excited to make progress and hold a high degree of responsibility
A kind person
Bonus Points:
Monitoring and observability expertise
Experience building and deploying to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
Relevant Data Visualization / financial product experience
Experience with Vue, Temporal, ClickHouse, Cloudflare
Our Tech Stack:
Ruby on Rails (7.x)
Temporal
Serverless Typescript
Large scale data pipelines and storage
Clickhouse
Terraform
Cloudflare
All of the usual AWS services
