We’ve built an inclusive, flexible, and candid culture where you’re empowered to grow, take smart risks, and be unapologetically yourself (cape optional). Whether remote or in-office, we support how you thrive best. We invest in your well-being, development, and ability to make an impact because when one Nerd levels up, we all do.

As a Senior Financial Analyst I reporting to our Director, Finance, you’ll serve as a strategic thought partner to your vertical, helping translate data into clear, actionable insights that guide smarter business decisions. You’ll lead financial planning and modeling efforts, manage the vertical’s budget in close partnership with General Managers, and track performance against key KPIs to ensure alignment with NerdWallet’s annual plan. This role is highly collaborative and influential. You’ll work cross-functionally within your vertical and alongside the broader Finance team, applying strong finance and accounting principles to solve complex business challenges and support informed decision-making. With a high degree of ownership, you’ll lead projects and initiatives with minimal oversight, contribute meaningfully to strategic discussions, and elevate outcomes through thoughtful modeling and analysis. You’ll also share your expertise by mentoring teammates, guiding colleagues on financial best practices, and supporting onboarding and learning opportunities—strengthening both the team and the impact we deliver together.

Where you can make an impact:

  • Monitor performance against KPIs, annual plans, and budgets, proactively identifying risks and opportunities and recommending data-driven solutions.

  • Oversee budget management across expense categories and departments, ensuring thoughtful resource allocation, accurate forecasting, and close partnership with Accounting during month-end close.

  • Play a key role in the development and execution of annual operating plans, connecting financial insights to broader company strategy and long-term growth objectives.

  • Enhance and maintain financial reporting tools and infrastructure, equipping business leaders with clear visibility into P&L performance and drivers of variance.

Your experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 5+ years of financial planning and analysis with a proven track record in business partnering

  • Prior experience in financial analysis, strategic and financial planning, building and maintaining financial models, and financial systems

  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis experience

  • Proven ability to identify and communicate business opportunities, risks, and insights in a fast-moving environment

  • Experience in revenue analytics, margin analysis, and strategic financial planning

  • Outstanding G-Suite (or Excel and PowerPoint skills); familiarity with FP&A tools (Pigment, Anaplan, etc.) and Looker

Where:
  • This role will be remote (based in the U.S.).

  • We believe great work can be done anywhere. No matter where you are based, NerdWallet offers benefits and perks to support the physical, financial, and emotional well being of you and your family.
