We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join, support, manage, and help grow a group of high performing product engineers at Alma. You will lead the Payer Expansion & Claim Submission team which is focused on fulfilling Alma’s contracts, integrating with new insurance payers and successfully submitting claims each month on behalf of our mental health therapists. On this scaling team, you will have a strong hand in defining Alma's features, services, and architecture.

What you’ll do:

  • Grow and develop an incredible team of hardworking, collaborative, and motivated engineers who have high expectations around individual ownership and impact.
  • Set team priorities that align with Alma’s goals and unify strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
  • Thread effectiveness and technical strategies across teams.
  • Drive planning and execution of complex and cross-team projects.
  • Clearly communicate technical expectations and contribute to the wider technical expectations of the organization.
  • Manage the cost of your team and find efficiencies.
  • Partner with product managers, designers and other stakeholders to ensure your team is prioritizing and delivering value to Alma members.
  • Engage in the end-to-end recruiting process, hiring, and on-boarding engineering talent to help grow the team and broader engineering organization.
  • Engage with the Product and Engineering team to create a long-term technical vision and product strategy.

Who you are:

  • You have 3-5 years of backend engineering experience, with 2-4 years of people management experience, and 3+ years of combined tech leadership and people management.
  • You’ve previously led and/or managed multiple teams at once.
  • You clearly communicate expectations, provide regular feedback, coach team members towards their growth and development goals, and make insights and recommendations to improve the overall career development process for the entire engineering organization.
  • You are a mentor to individual contributors of different seniority levels and expertise as well as other engineering managers in your domain.
  • You possess a clear and engaging communication style with a track record of building positive relationships across a broad diverse organization.
  • You have a demonstrable history of shipping user-facing products.
  • You feel a passion for Alma's mission – to improve the experience of therapy for providers and their clients, and simplify access to care.

Benefits:

  • We’re a remote-first company
  • Health insurance plans through Aetna (medical and dental) and MetLife (vision), including FSA and HSA plans
  • 401K plan (ADP)

  • Flexible PTO

Salary Band: $200,000 - $230,000

Alma’s compensation philosophy is driven by our company value of building equity. To best ensure pay equity, we typically bring in new hires near the middle of our listed salary bands and we do not negotiate our compensation (i.e. all people hired at the same level & role are brought in at the same salary, equity, and benefits). The recruiter you work with can provide more details on our philosophy.

All Alma jobs are listed on our careers page. We do not use outside applications or automated text messaging in our recruiting process. We will not ask for any sensitive financial or identification information throughout the recruiting process. Any communication during the recruitment process, including interview requests or job offers, will come directly from a recruiting team member with a helloalma.com email address.
