The Cluster Management team builds and operates the core foundations behind Cloudera Data Platform, Data Hub, and Data Lake services, the backbone of hybrid data management across on-premise and public cloud environments.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Engineering Manager to strengthen our leadership presence in the US and drive the next evolution of Cloudera’s hybrid data platform.

As a Sr. Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Act as the senior decision-maker for platform reliability, incident response, and customer-impacting escalations during US hours, coordinating across SRE, Support, and Product.

  • Lead engineering delivery for foundational components such as metering, usage insights, cross-cutting security initiatives, Data Hub features, and Cloudera Manager capabilities.

  • Guide teams working on upgrades, compliance, operational readiness, and the long-term stability of hybrid deployments.

  • Partner with global engineering leaders to uphold architectural, quality, and operational standards.

  • Mentor engineers and emerging leaders, fostering a culture of ownership and technical rigor.

  • Collaborate closely with EMEA leadership, including participating in early-morning alignment meetings.

We are excited if you have (Required Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline with 3+ years of management experience and 8+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • Background in software engineering (Java, Python, Go, or similar) with the ability to dive into code when necessary.

  • Leadership experience running production-critical platforms or distributed systems

  • Strong understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP environments

  • Familiarity with engines such as Spark, Hive, Impala, or Trino in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.

  • Calm and decisive leadership style during high-severity incidents

  • Excellent communication and the ability to bridge global teams and executives
