Senior Engineering Manager, Cash App Lending

The Role
Cash App's mission is to make money instantly available and universally accessible - all the products and features we've released in the app are based on those principles. Lending is one of the newest Cash App products and we're looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to join this team and help deliver on our vision of economic empowerment.
Lending offers Cash App users low-friction access to money without prohibitive repayment terms and the Lending Engineering team is focused on building the complex systems and tooling to support access and availability. Within Lending, the Product engineering team focuses on building the products and platforms that help deliver this access and credit to our customers at scale. We're looking for people who are as excited about our mission as they are about the technical challenges we have.
As an Engineering Manager of the Lending Product backend engineering team, you will lead your team in developing and improving Cash App's credit products for our customers. Working closely with product managers and designers, you'll drive the team's vision and roadmap to extend and expand credit access for Cash App customers.

You Will

• Partner closely with product, design, engineering, operations and business leads to evolve your team's vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding your customers' needs
• Build and manage a world-class team by hiring qualified candidates, coaching engineers, and shaping the team to scale with the needs of the business
• Lead and participate in critical technical, design, and product discussions with leaders across the organization
• Foster ownership, inclusiveness, psychological safety, accountability, and urgency in the team
• Provide mentorship to other members of the team
• Hold your teammates-and yourself-to high engineering standards through cultivating pragmatic engineering decision-making, and leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar
• You Have
• 12+ years working on complex systems and delivering quality software
• 4+ years experience managing teams
• Strong expertise in backend and distributed systems
• Demonstrated excellence in delivering organizationally important projects, setting strategic vision for teams, and evolving their teams to maximize flexibility, impact, and reliability.
• Track record of growing engineering teams and keeping engineers motivated and engaged.
• A history of healthy collaboration with product managers, engineers, and other engineering managers on developing roadmaps and executing against them
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong self-motivation to learn and grow
• Eagerness to share your own ideas, and openness to those of others
• An interest in working on a product that impacts people/businesses directly
• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
