Job Description SummaryLead the technical product solution for hypersonic flight and ground prototypes for the purpose of maturing hypersonic propulsion to TRL 6-7. The Candidate will provide engineering leadership and technical execution of development program for all module/components related technical activities for a flight program. This includes, but is not limited to, component/module technical readiness/maturation, analysis, definition, and manufacturing of GE Aerospace modules/components that become integrated into the overall propulsion system. Engineering leadership and coordination of all design engineering tasks/support provided by other design engineering resources.

The Candidate will be responsible for discipline and functional leadership on programs and across the Hypersonic Enterprise. Areas of discipline/functional responsibility include Aerodynamics, CFD and various senior technical experts.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ultimate responsibility for subsystem/component performance supporting the technical flight vehicle experiment.
  • Programmatically report to the Program Manager and work with the Systems Engineering Lead and functionally report to the Director of Engineering.
  • Review engineer’s technical work and provide leadership, mentoring, coaching and technical guidance.
  • Ensure that technical products and analysis are done correctly, adhere to company design practices and have engineering rigor.
  • Review and interface with subcontractors conducting technical work on the Program to ensure quality and correctness.
  • Provide technical direction to Program IPT leads, subcontractors, and work with engineers on an individual basis on highly technical analysis.
  • Work to ensure that quality and safety standards are addressed and exceeded.
  • Identify critical path analysis and rapidly and decisively plan on an inchstone basis what the immediate priority tasking is.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential technical risks to program.
  • Support a company process that ensures adherence to standard design practices for hypersonic vehicle development.
  • Develop a positive and collaborative communication and working relationship with the customer, internal leadership, and subcontractors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 15+ years in R&D Aircraft / Missile / Prototype Development and rapid flight test
  • 15+ years’ experience working in high technology development in the aerospace and defense sector. 
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.  GE will require proof of status.
  • Must be in the Bohemia, NY office 50% of the time
  • Aerospace and CFD leadership experience
  • High level leadership experience leading disciplines or sectors

The base pay range for this position is $180,000 - $240,000.  The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on March 20th, 2026.
