The Senior Director, Strategic Innovation - Diagnostics (DX) will play a critical role in driving the company’s decision-making capabilities. This role is responsible for developing a robust, data-driven approach and process to identifying, assessing, and prioritizing growth and innovation opportunities across the DX portfolio. The ideal candidate will lead market and clinical research initiatives, integrate diverse analytical insights, and establish a structured strategic process that builds, informs, and validates portfolio opportunities, solution roadmaps, portfolio management, and long-term business growth.

Innovation Strategy

  • Define and drive the strategic innovation agenda for DX, aligning it with the overall business objectives
  • Translate market needs into solution requirements that drive actionable clinical, operational, and economic value for customers and provider organizations.
  • Lead/support cross-functional project teams (e.g., Core Lab Solutions, Specialty Lab Solutions, and Point of Care Business Lines, Portfolio Management, Medical Affairs, Regional, Functional, and Business Development teams) to develop and rationalize a portfolio of market opportunities and to determine critical go-to-market elements.
  • Identify new and current innovation areas (clinical, technical) to help achieve the strategic objectives for DX and the Business Lines, with a focus on clinical unmet needs and business disruptors to protect current business, promote future growth and build a robust R&D pipeline
  • Lead adjacent and transformational projects through a formalized agile innovation process to outline, evaluate, launch, and drive strategic and operational initiatives
  • Present synthesis of findings to executive leadership at both the DX and business line levels to inform business strategy

Strategic Market Research & Business Intelligence

  • Develop and lead the execution of a comprehensive strategy for integrating clinical, technological, and healthcare deployment insights into a dynamic business growth pipeline, in alignment with overall portfolio management
  • Establish and manage a structured, data-driven market research framework to systematically identify and validate opportunities and inform strategic decisions
  • Create and maintain a centralized repository (“common source of truth”) for market segmentation, competitive positioning, emerging trends, proprietary insights, and strategic opportunities
  • Implement robust methodologies to quantify and prioritize market opportunities, ensuring alignment with business objectives

Voice of Customer (VoC) / Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Insights

  • Establish a formalized primary market research program to capture VoC and VoS insights, ensuring their integration into strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate and oversee VoC projects to ensure timely, critical, and actionable customer insights drive product and service innovation.
  • Align and optimize research methods, including surveys, interviews, and data analytics, to gain a comprehensive understanding of customer needs, pain points, and behaviors.
  • Support the Medical Sciences team in mapping and analyzing customer journeys, patient care pathways, and clinical segment-specific needs to inform targeted strategic initiatives that span CLS, SLS & POC business lines.

Your expertise

  • Diagnostics industry experience is required for this position.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) of leading large-scale market research, segmentation initiatives, and strategic programs in the diagnostics industry.
  • Strong expertise in developing and implementing structured, data-driven strategic planning processes.
  • Demonstrated success in translating market intelligence into actionable business plans, product roadmaps, and innovation strategies.
  • Experience in portfolio management, risk assessment, and strategic prioritization in a complex healthcare ecosystem.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams, including R&D, commercial, regulatory, and medical affairs.
  • Outstanding team leadership, driving key aspects of success such as strategic alignment, innovation, operational excellence, team engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience managing direct reports strongly preferred.

Note: This is a remote Senior Director level individual contributor role with potential to manage direct reports in the future.

The annual base pay for this position is:

Min $225,400 - Max $338,000

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
