Summary of Job Scope:

The Senior Director, Global Procurement ITS Business Partner serves as the strategic technology advisor, innovation catalyst, digital transformation leader, and IT delivery lead (Global S4 HANA Rollout) for the Global Procurement organization at Fresenius Medical Care (FME). This role is responsible for designing, enabling, and delivering the full digital agenda across the Source-to-Pay (S2P) value chain, including Source-to-Contract, Supplier Management, Direct & Indirect Procurement, Master Data, Invoice-to-Pay, and Travel & Expense.

The candidate will co-own the Procurement Digital/Technology Roadmap, partnering with Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) leadership, regional procurement teams, GBS/shared services, Finance, Supply Chain, and external partners to conceptualize future-state capabilities and deliver digital/technology products that transform how FME:

  • Sources and manages suppliers
  • Manages categories and contracts globally
  • Runs direct and indirect procurement
  • Ensures ESG, compliance, risk management, and supplier governance
  • Automates transaction processing, AP operations, and payments
  • Delivers data-driven procurement insights and decision support
  • Optimizes spend, working capital, and value realization

The Senior Director will lead a global portfolio of digital procurement products and transformation programs, ensuring measurable outcomes in operational excellence, risk reduction, AI-driven automation, user experience, and cost efficiency by transforming of business goals in IT initiatives/programs/projects and ensure the timely delivery. This leader will champion the adoption of advanced analytics, GenAI, intelligent automation, and modern procurement platforms to enable a next-generation Procurement operating model.

This role is a key member of the ITS Enterprise Business Partner Leadership Team, ensuring tight alignment between Procurement and ITS and working across multiple global functions to deliver end-to-end digital outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Digital Procurement Strategy & Thought Leadership

  • Shape and co-own the 3–5 year Global Procurement digital/technology strategy and roadmap, spanning S2C, P2P, AP, supplier management, and T&E.
  • Advise the CPO leadership, Category Leads, and GBS on emerging technologies, digital procurement operating models, ESG-aligned procurement innovation, and AI-enabled transformation.
  • Serve as the trusted technology advisor on modernizing procurement practices, supply chain collaboration, and supplier ecosystems.

Product Ownership & Portfolio Management

  • Act as IT Business partner and IT overall Product Owner for the Global Procurement Digital Product Portfolio for multi‑technology environment, covering:
    • S2C platforms, Supplier Lifecycle & Risk Management (CPAi, Jaggaer)
    • Direct & Indirect Procurement (SAP S4 & ARIBA)
    • Procurement Master Data (SAP MDG & Oro)
    • AP Automation / Invoice-to-Pay (SAP OpenText VIM)
    • T&E platforms (SAP Concur)
    • Procurement Analytics & Insights (SAP Analytics, Sievo)
  • Define product vision, roadmap, and outcomes tied to category strategies, risk, savings, and ESG goals.
  • Lead the IT delivery for Global S4 HANA Rollout, continuous improvement, and user experience optimization.
  • Govern demand, prioritize investments, and ensure alignment using value frameworks, OKRs, and business cases.

Business Value, Savings, Compliance & Performance Management

  • Lead the value realization framework for Procurement ITS investments, covering:
    • Savings enablement
    • Compliance improvement
    • Cycle-time reduction across S2C/P2P
    • Working capital impact
    • Supplier risk reduction
    • User experience and adoption
  • Establish Procurement IT economics, including TCO transparency, benchmark KPIs, and spend management dashboards.
  • Ensure digital investments drive measurable improvements in spend under management, policy compliance, and procurement efficiency.

AI, Automation & Advanced Analytics Leadership

  • Drive scaled adoption of AI/GenAI across Procurement use cases, including:
    • Automated supplier discovery and qualification
    • GenAI-assisted contract summarization and risk extraction
    • Automated negotiations & chat-based buying
    • Predictive risk scoring and anomaly detection
    • AP automation & touchless invoice processing
    • AI-driven category insights and forecasting
  • Build and govern Procurement analytics architecture, semantic models, dashboards, and predictive insights.
  • Manage the IT delivery of self-service spend analytics, supplier risk insights, and performance dashboards for category leaders and buyers.

Digital Platform Modernization & Architecture

  • Lead modernization of the digital Procurement estate for S2P e.g. Global S4 HANA Rollout, Unifying a heterogeneous system landscape.
  • Ensure interoperability between SAP & Non-SAP systems for procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, ESG reporting, cybersecurity, and GRC.
  • Drive simplification, harmonization, and global standardization of  systems.

Stakeholder Leadership & Change Management

  • Act as the primary engagement point for Procurement leaders (GPO, Procurement Excellence into IT organization.
  • Ensure alignment across Procurement, GBS/AP, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and ESG.
  • Champion a procurement culture that values digital tools, insights, automation, and standardization.

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a diverse global team (~10 internal + external consultants).
  • Build organizational capabilities in product management, procurement analytics, supplier data, automation, and digital procurement.
  • Coach teams to leverage agile methods, user-centric design, and value-based prioritization.

The role will report to the Vice President, Enterprise Solutions ITS, and will partner, plan and deliver the digital agenda for Global Procurement & Lead the IT delivery for Global S4 HANA Rollout.

Experience setting up demand intake process, AMS, GBS set-up for ITS & IT lead delivery organization.

Qualifications:

Education:  

  • BA/BS required; B.S. Degree in Computer Information Sciences, Business Management, MBA preferred or related field

Required:

  • 15+ years of experience in IT Delivery, SAP Program Management, Portfolio management, digital transformation, S2P/P2P systems, Procurement technology, or business partnering within large global enterprises.
  • 5+ years leading teams in Procurement, S2P, Supply Chain, P2P, AP Operations, Finance, or ITS.
  • Strong track record in digital procurement strategy, platform modernization, and transformation delivery.
  • Direct experience in global S2P deployments (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer), supplier management, AP automation, or Contract Management systems.
  • Proven ability to influence CPO-level leaders and senior executives.
  • Experience operating in matrix global organizations, with cross-functional stakeholder engagement. Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills; high integrity, energy, and executive presence.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive measurable savings, compliance, process efficiency, and digital adoption.

Preferred Skills:

  • Deep expertise in SAP MM, Ariba, Coupa, Icertis, SAP S/4 Procurement, Supplier Management, AP Automation, Invoice to Pay Tools (Open Text VIM/Basware).
  • Experience implementing or operating AI/GenAI procurement use cases.
  • Strong understanding of Procurement analytics platforms (Tableau, Power BI, SAP Analytics Cloud).
  • Exposure to ESG procurement and supplier sustainability data.
  • Knowledge of agile delivery, product management, and value stream management.
  • Experience with procurement master data governance, catalog management, and marketplace models.
