WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an outstanding Sr Design Director, Innovation Global Football - to combine their Footwear design experience, problem solving abilities, team leadership, relationship building, management skills, critical thinking, and creativity to help lead the future of the Innovation Global Football Footwear industry.

The ideal candidate needs to be a highly creative team leader, setting aspirational Footwear product design directions to encourage and lead the team of talents. Recognize and build high quality Footwear product designs and lead a multi-disciplinary design teams including product designers, 3D designers, material designers, color designers, and graphic designers.

This person will be passionate about elevating all types of global football experiences by meeting the needs of athletes through style & performance experiences, and culturally connected influences and memorable narratives.   

As a creative leader, you will motivate the team, celebrates wins, and cultivate a climate that encourages an open collaborative creativity through equity, inclusion and diversity.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

If this is you, you will establish and feed the creative vision & design directions for Nike Global Football’s new Footwear creations.

You will champion a culturally connected, encouraging creative vision with emphasis on elevating the product designs showcasing the forward-thinking innovation, and performance experience that will set the new pace within the Global Football market to set the trend and own the industry.

You will build, hold, and maintain the best standard of practice and design excellence, ensuring the highest standard of quality, consistency, accuracy while pushing the boundaries of creativity!

Seasonally, you will partner closely with Global Football Sr Footwear Design Director to evaluate consumer trends, macro global insights and marketplace analysis to lead the team in delivering innovative & craft obsessed designs through both physical and digital creative methods to cross pollinate creative team alignment across product, color, materials, and graphics.

You will lead category design resources, processes and relationships to ensure project standards and timelines are met. You will also build and run your own seasonal/annual project workload and will be asked at times to extend outside of the primary activity of Global Football to support the larger Nike Design community. In addition, you'll work in conjunction with design leadership to develop design and optimally handle the annual goal setting and evaluation process of your team.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

This role will directly report into the VP, Innovation Footwear Product Design, while regularly partnering with cross functional product leadership teams across Create and Expression, Design Excellence, Concepts, Apparel Design, Brand Design leadership, and key downstream business partners to encourage a culture of creativity that aligns to the broader creative direction.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in product creation, or design and development or Combination of relevant education, experience and training.
  • Minimum of 10 years Footwear Product Creation (Design and Development) experience and knowledge.
  • Creative future visioning, Setting aspirational Design Directions, High taste-level and critical thinking.
  • Innovation, consumer experience, and deep performance rooted product creation knowledge.
  • Championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Team oriented mentality and willingness to partner with others.
  • Successful experiences in working efficiently with cross-functional and cross-enterprise teams.
  • Possesses digital capabilities and competence.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Presentation/Communication style: Clear, Concise, and Thoughtful (strong verbal and written skills). Ability to present new ideas or seasonal concepts to small and large groups, including addressing executive leaders, and external partners or customers.
