Your day at NTT DATA
NTT DATA is seeking a Senior Director, Go-to-Market Insurance Advisory Leader for Japan to drive growth, market development, and strategic client engagement across the Japanese insurance industry working with teams based in North America.

This is a leadership role combining insurance industry advisory, go-to-market leadership, AI-led transformation, and executive client engagement. The leader will be responsible for translating NTT DATA’s global insurance capabilities—including Agentic AI and AI-native insurance solutions—into compelling propositions tailored to the priorities, operating models, regulatory environment, and technology landscape of Japanese insurers.

The role will operate as a trusted advisor to senior insurance executives, helping carriers identify and shape transformation opportunities across underwriting, claims, policy administration, customer and agent engagement, actuarial, operations, and technology modernization.

Equally important, the leader will serve as a bridge between Japanese insurance clients, NTT DATA Japan, and NTT DATA’s Global Insurance Practice, bringing global innovation and intellectual property into the Japanese market while ensuring that Japan-specific requirements and market insights influence global solution and product roadmaps.

Given the role's responsibility for connecting the Japanese market with NTT DATA's global organization, the successful candidate must be bilingual, with professional-level proficiency in both Japanese and English, and able to communicate effectively with senior executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams in both languages.

The successful candidate will combine deep insurance domain expertise with strong commercial instincts, executive presence, knowledge of the Japanese market, and a practical understanding of how AI and emerging technologies can transform insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

Japan Insurance GTM Strategy & Market Development

  • Develop and execute the Japan go-to-market strategy for Insurance, aligned with NTT DATA’s broader global insurance strategy and Japan business priorities.
  • Identify priority market segments, clients, business problems, and use cases across Property & Casualty (P&C) and Life & Annuity (L&A) insurance.
  • Define differentiated value propositions around areas such as Agentic AI, AI-native insurance operations, underwriting transformation, intelligent claims, policy servicing, customer and agent experience, fraud, actuarial transformation, and legacy modernization.
  • Build account-specific strategies for strategic Japanese insurers in partnership with NTT DATA Japan sales and account leadership.
  • Develop compelling industry-specific propositions, executive narratives, case studies, demonstrations, and thought leadership that resonate with Japanese insurance executives.
  • Analyze Japanese insurance industry trends, competitive dynamics, regulatory developments, technology investments, and evolving client priorities to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Build a measurable GTM pipeline and establish metrics covering opportunity creation, pipeline progression, solution adoption, revenue, and strategic account penetration.

Insurance Strategy & Executive Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite and senior executives across Japanese insurance carriers, including CIOs, CTOs, Chief Digital Officers, Chief Underwriting Officers, Chief Claims Officers, and business transformation leaders.
  • Engage clients on strategic questions such as how to become an AI-native insurer, how AI changes insurance operating models, and how insurers should modernize their technology and data estates to support AI-led transformation.
  • Help clients translate strategic ambitions into actionable transformation roadmaps, prioritized business use cases, target operating models, technology architectures, and investment cases.
  • Bring global insurance perspectives, benchmarks, use cases, and NTT DATA experience into conversations with Japanese insurers while adapting recommendations to the specific characteristics of the Japanese market.
  • Lead executive workshops, innovation sessions, strategic assessments, and advisory engagements that create downstream transformation and technology opportunities.

AI & Insurance Solution Leadership

  • Identify and shape high-value AI opportunities across the insurance value chain, including underwriting, claims, policy administration, actuarial, billing, customer service, distribution/agent engagement, fraud, compliance, and enterprise operations.
  • Guide clients in moving from AI experimentation toward enterprise-scale and production deployment, with appropriate consideration for governance, security, data privacy, model risk, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with solution, engineering, data, AI, and architecture teams to translate insurance business requirements into scalable AI-enabled solutions.
  • Support the development and commercialization of NTT DATA’s Agentic AI Platform and AI for Insurance capabilities for the Japanese market.
  • Advise clients on integrating AI solutions with existing insurance technology estates, including core policy, claims, billing, CRM, data, and digital platforms.
  • Provide Japan-specific insurance domain feedback to global Product and Engineering teams to influence product roadmaps and capability development.

Global-to-Japan Capability Localization

  • Act as the primary bridge between NTT DATA’s Global Insurance Practice and the Japanese insurance market.
  • Identify global insurance offerings, platforms, accelerators, partnerships, intellectual property, and delivery capabilities that can create differentiated value for Japanese insurers.
  • Lead localization of global propositions for Japanese market requirements, including business processes, operating models, language, regulatory expectations, technology environments, and client buying behaviors.
  • Conversely, identify innovations and capabilities developed in Japan that can be scaled through NTT DATA’s global insurance ecosystem.
  • Facilitate collaboration among Japan business units, global insurance specialists, technology practices, hyperscalers, InsurTechs, and strategic ecosystem partners.
  • Operate effectively in both Japanese and English, facilitating executive discussions, workshops, solution development, and collaboration between Japan-based and global stakeholders.

Commercial & Opportunity Leadership

  • Partner with sales and account teams to originate, qualify, shape, and progress strategic insurance opportunities.
  • Lead the insurance domain and advisory components of major proposals, RFP responses, solution workshops, and executive presentations.
  • Develop business cases and transformation narratives connecting technology investment to measurable outcomes such as growth, operational efficiency, improved underwriting performance, claims effectiveness, customer experience, speed-to-market, and technology simplification.
  • Help differentiate NTT DATA in complex competitive pursuits by combining insurance expertise, AI innovation, technology capabilities, and global delivery scale.
  • Establish senior-level relationships across priority Japanese insurance accounts and create opportunities for long-term strategic partnerships rather than transactional technology engagements.
