At CDK, we're pioneering the next evolution in dealership technology. As Senior Director of Engineering, you'll lead the teams behind our next generation CRM platform—a sophisticated platform ecosystem that will transform dealerships across North America. This critical leadership role places you at the helm of technology set, driving data architecture, business architecture, platform architecture to converge into an intelligent platform dealership engagement with their customers, sales, profitability, and compliance.

This position is vital to our commitment to continuous innovation and strategic growth, ensuring strong leadership continuity for our core product offerings while minimizing business risk during transitions. Your engineering vision will directly impact thousands of dealerships that rely on our technology to thrive in today's competitive automotive marketplace. You will lead and manage teams building next generation CRM and Modern Retail offerings.
 

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of scaling engineering teams in fast-paced environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative products in alignment with business goals, while ensuring engineering excellence and operational efficiency. As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping our technology vision, culture, and long-term strategy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap ensuring alignment with business objectives and product vision
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, leaders, and technical leaders across all levels, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
  • Collaborate closely and align with Product, User Experience, and other stakeholders to define and deliver on the technical roadmap
  • Drive architectural decisions, code quality standards and promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Ensure adherence to DevSecOps best practices for code quality, testing, CI/CD, and security
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and ensure the engineering team is equipped to scale with company growth
  • Maintain in market products during the transition to next gen platform while achieving SLA and product quality and performance standards
  • Create a collaborative transition roadmap to migrate clients using in market products to new platforms
  • Collaborate and drive positive client outcomes together with various cross functional teams

Required Qualifications and Attributes:

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience in the enterprise software space using both public and private cloud infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience in senior engineering leadership roles managing managers or directors
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong technical background with deep knowledge in microservices architecture, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), SQL and NoSQL solutions
  • Hands on proven experience building scalable cloud native web enterprise applications
  • Proven experience managing geographically dispersed engineering teams
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills; able to influence and inspire people at all levels
  • Must be open to travel as needed
     

Desired Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Experience with data architecture/platforms, AI/ML embedded into products
  • Automotive industry or similar vertical
  • Mobile Application Product Development experience

Salary Range: $230,000 - $270,000

CDK Global is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation packages are based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, certifications, and work location.  The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.We offer Medical, dental, and vision benefits in addition to:
