The Senior Director of Data and Science at Verana Health is not just a role—it's a critical strategic position that serves as the bridge between complex clinical data and transformative healthcare insights. This position works directly with life science companies to unlock breakthrough understanding, improve patient outcomes, and accelerate medical innovation.
By translating intricate clinical investigation questions into precise data analytics, you will be the key architect who helps our clients navigate the complex landscape of healthcare research. You will drive impactful discussions that align project objectives with cutting-edge analytic services. You will turn raw data into meaningful, actionable intelligence that has the potential to reshape medical understanding and treatment approaches.
This remote role reports to the SVP, Data and Science. It offers an exciting opportunity to lead critical clinical studies and leverage your expertise in epidemiology and biostatistics in a dynamic and collaborative environment focused on advancing medical research.
What you get to do:
- Client Engagement and Leadership: You will drive discussions with life science customers to align project objectives with Verana’s offerings and serve as a key member of the Data and Science team, focusing on analytic services projects.
- Hands-On Contribution: You will be actively involved in critical commercial retrospective clinical studies, including developing protocols, methodologies, and statistical analysis plans and interpreting results.
- Technical Expertise: Your understanding of biostatistics and epidemiology and experience in resource planning will support your ability to manage analytic capacity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will collaborate with teams across the organization(Commercial, Product, Medical, Engineering/Technology) to translate clinical questions into data analytics requirements.
- Resource Allocation and Planning: You will manage the end-to-end resource planning process, including forecasting, scheduling, and rostering, to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
Your Qualifications:
- A Master’s or Doctorate in a quantitative discipline such as Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of customer-facing experience within life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology sectors.
- 5+ years of experience managing research study teams, demonstrating strong leadership and organizational skills.
- A comprehensive understanding of biostatistics and epidemiology principles.
- Proven ability in team resource allocation and capacity estimation, with oversight of P&L-like outputs.
- Strong client-facing gravitas with demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with clients in ophthalmology, urology, and/or neurology clinical data.
- Familiarity with health data analytics tools, particularly SQL, Python, and R.
- Solid experience working with clinical datasets and coding systems.
