Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join a global team responsible for critical Oracle infrastructure that powers games like World of Warcraft and Hearthstone as well as other systems in our environment. This role will focus on operational excellence of our Oracle database platforms, including Exadata, ZDLRA, and cloud-based deployments.

You will join a team of senior database engineers who collaborate with game development teams to ensure high performance and availability and assist in our transition from on-prem infrastructure to Oracle Exadata in the Cloud. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exadata & ZDLRA: Administer and tune Exadata and ZDLRA platforms, ensuring uptime and efficiency
  • Cloud Integration: Assist in Exadata Cloud Service (Azure, OCI, AWS, Alibaba) deployments, ensuring scalability and efficiency
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and enhance database performance, leveraging Oracle best practices.
  • Disaster Recovery & Security: Maintain robust backup and recovery solutions using ZDLRA and RMAN, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, security, and application/game development, to support business needs.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements for database management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years in Oracle database engineering
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Oracle Exadata, ZDLRA, RAC, Pluggable databases, OEM, Golden Gate, and Data Guard.
  • Communication: Strong ability to engage with stakeholders across different time zones. Report on metrics, incidents, and service levels to leadership.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $101,000.00 - $186,754.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
