Senior Data Scientist, People Analytics and Research

This role is responsible for ensuring Airbnb HR data are delivered in a timely, accurate, and high quality manner to key stakeholders across the business.

The People Analytics & Research team is looking for an experienced Data Scientist to lead and/or contribute to some of our key projects, such as survey analysis (employee listening); how to hire, promote, and retain a best in-class workforce; and how to maintain fairness in key company processes. The role is highly cross-functional, and you will work with Talent Leaders, Legal, Diversity and Belonging, and other core people-oriented teams. We need a Data Scientist with a proven track record in translating data to insights and action.

A Typical Day:

• Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to understand people-related business problems, and gather relevant people data to analyze
• Utilize appropriate statistical models and data science methodologies to gain insights, explain, or predict a wide variety of people-related processes, such as hiring, promotion, productivity, attrition, employee engagement, and workplace diversity, among others
• Translate data and insights into meaningful visualizations and stories to drive strategy, action, and decision-making with leaders across the business
• Align research priorities with business priorities and take a customer-focused mindset in working with stakeholders
• Leverage academic expertise and knowledge of people analytics trends to address practical business challenges
• Exercise traits of adaptability and good judgment to support organizational agility
• Be a constant learner, active listener, and teacher to advance data science, people analytics, and Airbnb

Your Expertise:

• • • 5+ years in industry experience and a Master's degree/PhD in a quantitative field
    • Knowledge of and experience with causal inference using observational data
    • Experience in research design and advanced statistical analysis (experimentation and quasi-experimental methods) 
    • Ability to conduct statistical analysis using R or Python
    • Ability to access databases via SQL
    • Knowledge of and experience in survey design and analysis
    • Experience interpreting survey data and using it to drive decisions
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to cross functional partners of varying technical levels and drive impact
    • Understanding of the external people analytics landscape and trends
    • Experience working with large practical datasets

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
