Section 1: Position Summary

As a Senior Data Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of data within the organization. You will be an active member of the Data Warehouse team working to design, build, and maintain our Data Warehouse and Information Systems with a focus on Data Quality and Governance.  Additionally, this role includes mentoring junior engineers, performing automated and manual data tests, and staying updated on technological trends to recommend improvements.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.
  • Contribute to standards and best practices for implementing ETL tools, build and maintain ETL solutions, and participate in creating long-term ETL application support models
  • Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies, including automated and manual testing protocols.
  • Conduct thorough testing on data processing systems to identify and resolve issues
  • Create and maintain documentation on test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures
  • Perform root cause analysis for discovered defects and provide proactive solutions
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and lead them towards effective problem-solving

Section 3:  Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

Required skills and experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data/software development, including data warehousing and ETL tools, techniques and technology.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends and patterns, and derive actionable insights
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including active listening. Asking appropriate questions, clarifying information and writing clear, concise documents.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL.
  • Very good understanding of data modeling techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing and ETL design/tools.
  • Good experience with relational databases like Oracle or SQL Server.

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • A degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience with PowerBI, Cognos Analytics and Cognos Framework Manager a plus.
