Position overview:

Blue Orange Digital is seeking a Senior Data Governance Lead for a part-time advisory role spanning Weeks 2-18 of a 26-week enterprise data warehouse implementation for a global commodities trading and supply chain company. You will design and implement the data governance framework for a Microsoft Fabric platform built over fragmented legacy data - multiple regional ERPs, CTRM instances (including Irely), and a concurrent SAP S/4HANA finance transformation - spanning trading, risk, finance, and logistics data domains. This is a greenfield governance engagement with high influence and real production impact on a modern Fabric architecture.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement the enterprise data governance framework across OneLake and Fabric workspace layers, covering cataloging, lineage, ownership, and access control

  • Define and enforce data cataloging standards for Bronze/Silver/Gold assets including Lakehouse tables, Warehouse objects, and Semantic Model entities

  • Establish end-to-end data lineage tracking from source systems (ERP, CTRM, SAP) through transformation layers to final reporting data products

  • Develop and apply data quality rules and validation frameworks across ingestion and transformation layers, integrated with Fabric pipeline execution

  • Define naming conventions, data classification standards, and workspace-level access control policies in alignment with Fabric governance capabilities

  • Collaborate with SAP S/4HANA and CTRM integration workstreams to document source-system metadata and lineage for all key data domains

  • Develop and lead master data management strategy for key shared entities across trading, finance, and logistics domains

  • Produce governance documentation, data stewardship process guides, and training materials for client data owners and analysts

Requirements:
  • 7+ years in data governance, data management, or data architecture with production governance framework implementations

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or Fabric governance capabilities - Microsoft Purview a strong advantage for OneLake/Fabric cataloging and lineage

  • Strong background in data lineage, metadata management, and data quality frameworks at enterprise scale

  • Familiarity with financial or commodity trading data domains and the governance complexity of multi-source, cross-domain environments

  • Experience defining stewardship processes and working with business owners to operationalize governance policies

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, data, or business field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred qualifications:
  • Hands-on Microsoft Purview experience for Fabric/Azure data cataloging, classification, and lineage scanning

  • Data governance certification (DAMA CDMP or equivalent)

  • Experience in financial services, commodity trading, or global supply chain data environments

  • Background in master data management across ERP and CTRM source systems (SAP MDG or similar a plus)

Salary: $ 5,500 - 6,500 [ USD ] monthly

Background checks may be required for certain positions/projects.
