We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong infrastructure focus to help us build and operate the foundation of our data platform. In this role, you will bridge data engineering and platform operations, as well as designing systems for ingestion, transformation, and observability at scale. You’ll help define architecture patterns, implement strong data pipelines, and optimize the performance and reliability of our entire data ecosystem. This will be a rewarding opportunity if you are looking for a role where you can make a significant impact on a product with millions of users and petabytes of data.

What you’ll do:

    • Define patterns for scalable and efficient data storage, partitioning, and access
    • Architect batch and streaming systems to enable reliable data movement and transformation
  • Pipeline Development and Maintenance
    • Build and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Airflow, dbt, and dlthub
    • Implement strategies for schema evolution, backfilling, and safe migration
    • Automate ingestion from APIs, event streams, file drops, and third-party sources
  • Data Quality and Observability
    • Implement validation frameworks, anomaly detection, and unit tests across pipelines
    • Monitor data health and build resilient processes for issue detection and resolution
  • Platform and Tooling
    • Contribute to internal tooling, documentation, and engineering standards
    • Support CI/CD workflows for data pipelines and analytics code
    • Optimize compute/storage usage and recommend architectural or cost-saving improvements
Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • BS degree in a STEM field
  • 5-7 years of experience in building batch and streaming data pipelines from various sources end-to-end, including ingestion, processing, and transformation
  • You are fluent in Python and SQL
  • Deep experience with data modeling and database architecture
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security best practices (e.g. data masking, PII layering)
  • Experience with data orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
  • Familiarity with data observability tools like Monte Carlo, Metaplan, or BigEye
  • Experience with Semantic modeling and common BI tools (e.g. Looker, Omni, Tableau, Metabase)
  • Deep understanding of GCP/AWS cloud infrastructure and offerings (IAM/Compute/Kubernetes/Analytics)
  • Experience with Cloud Data Warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.) and data transformation tools (DBT, SQLMesh)
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code platforms like Terraform or Pulumi
  • Knowledge of data governance best practices
