Job Description

Vanguard’s Financial Advisor Services (FAS) business partners with financial advisors and advisory firms by providing investment solutions, insights, and support to help them serve their clients. We are seeking a strategic, senior analytics leader to help FAS make faster, better decisions by turning complex data into clear, compelling stories and actionable insights. This role sits on the FAS Business Intelligence team and will enable leaders to prioritize initiatives, improve sales and service effectiveness, and measure business impact.

This position is aligned to FAS’ Advisor Solutions team, which develops and delivers products and capabilities used by advisors—such as Model Portfolios, Vanguard Personalized Indexing, and specialist teams that support advisor adoption (e.g., Financial Planning & Coaching and the Investment Advisory Research Center). You will partner day-to-day with product, distribution, and strategy leaders to define the right questions, build KPI frameworks, and deliver dashboards, analyses, and executive-ready readouts that inform go-to-market strategy, client engagement, and distribution priorities. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in analytics leadership, data visualization, and data storytelling, with the ability to influence senior leaders through insight-driven recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and lead the execution of the enterprise-wide business intelligence strategy aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Define the BI vision and roadmap, prioritizing initiatives that drive business value and performance optimization.

Data Storytelling & Visualization:

  • Champion the use of data storytelling to influence strategic decisions and drive business outcomes.
  • Design and deliver intuitive dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate key metrics, trends, and insights to senior leadership.
  • Ensure complex data sets are presented in a way that is accessible, compelling, and tailored to the audience.

Actionable Insights & Decision Support:

  • Translate data into clear, actionable recommendations to support operational, financial, and strategic decisions.
  • Identify and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs), business trends, risks, and opportunities across the organization.
  • Lead advanced data analysis projects, including forecasting, segmentation, and scenario modeling.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence:

  • Serve as the primary BI partner for executive and senior business leaders, understanding their needs and delivering insights that drive value.
  • Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Influence decision-making through compelling narratives backed by data, promoting a data-driven culture across the business.

Data Governance & Quality:

  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across BI tools and reporting environments.
  • Collaborate and prioritize roadmaps with data engineering and governance teams to maintain high data quality standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data strategy roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience in the financial services industry or a similarly data-intensive environment.
  • Expert-level proficiency with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and data storytelling techniques.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and SQL.
  • Proven track record of driving business performance through data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, especially at the executive level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, or related field.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Data Analytics, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, Python/R, or machine learning concepts.
