Role Overview
As a Sr. Data Analyst, you will leverage data and visual analytics to provide actionable insights and strategic solutions for our clients. In this role, you will design technical solutions, develop robust data storage architectures, and conduct rigorous testing to ensure the reliability of enterprise-level dashboards and reports.

While you will primarily support an external project within the public sector, you may also contribute to internal initiatives at DSG. To excel, you must have a solid grasp of the business technology landscape, a proven track record of creating high-impact visualizations, and mastery of SQL.
This is a remote (work from home) position that can be based anywhere in the United States with occasional travel to client sites in Washington, DC. Due to the nature of our clients in the federal government, you must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance (i.e. must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident who has resided in the US for the past three years consecutively).
Responsibilities
  • Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive, high-performance dashboards using Tableau. Experience with other industry-standard BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker, or Sigma), a strong plus.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to translate complex business needs into technical data requirements.
  • Data Modeling: Design and implement scalable data models and ETL processes using SQL to prepare diverse datasets for analysis.
  • Visual Storytelling: Create compelling charts, graphs, and infographics that simplify complex trends and drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Quality Assurance: Troubleshoot reporting issues, perform root-cause analysis on data discrepancies, and ensure total data integrity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current on emerging BI trends, tool updates, and best practices to enhance DSG’s reporting capabilities.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in BI development, dashboard design, and data visualization, using Tableau and at least one other platform.
  • Tool Expertise: Proven mastery of Tableau and at least one other major visualization platform (Power BI, or Looker) with the ability to adapt to new tools as project needs evolve.
  • Advanced SQL: 5+ years of experience using SQL for cleaning, transforming, and performing complex calculations on large, disparate datasets.
  • Technical Depth: Expertise in advanced BI concepts such as complex calculations (LODs/DAX), data blending, parameter actions, and performance tuning for large-scale deployments.
  • Data Architecture: Experience working with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery).
  • Agile Mindset: Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Modern Data Stack: Knowledge of ETL/ELT tools (e.g., dbt) and modern data transformation methodologies.
  • Connectivity: Experience integrating BI tools with APIs, cloud platforms, and third-party data sources.
Preferences
  • Programming: Familiarity with Python or R for advanced data analytics and automation.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Knowledge of cloud ecosystems (AWS preferred) and their native data services.
  • Advanced Analytics: Understanding of machine learning, predictive modeling, or statistical analysis.
  • Optimization: Specific experience in performance tuning SQL queries and dashboard load times for enterprise-level use.
  • Federal Space: Experience working with the federal government on data visualization or analytics projects.
  • Work Authorization: U.S. work authorization required.
  • Public Trust Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance (i.e. must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident who has resided in the US for the past three years consecutively).
