About the Role
Are you an experienced attorney ready to shape the future of legal technology and estate planning?
Wealth.com is seeking a Senior Counsel, Strategic Growth, to act as the trusted subject matter expert and strategic advisor to all the customer-facing Wealth.com functions and to participate directly in the hyper growth of the company.
Beyond your deep expertise in estate planning and wealth transfer strategies, you will be an attorney ambassador at industry events and position the company as a thought leader in the estate planning industry. You will collaborate directly with our growth team and Chief Legal Officer to close deals and to roll out initiatives within the company to build on compliance and security as core strategic strengths for the company. This role demands strong skills in time management, project management, and cross-functional collaboration. This isn't just a legal role: it's an opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation and directly influence the company’s position in the industry.
Responsibilities
Develop deep understanding of all wealth.com products lines and be able to explain the legal concepts and considerations that underpin those products to purchasers, wealth advisors, and our non-attorney employees
Roll out strategic initiatives for regulatory compliance of our customers and our company (e.g., data privacy, data security, and legal ethics), in collaboration with the growth, product, and security teams
Command the stage; lead webinars, publish thought pieces, and create marketing content about a wide range of estate planning topicsParticipate in the end-to-end sales process, including attending trade shows and industry events, submitting responses to RFPs, attending demos and reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts (with the Chief Legal Officer and outside counsel)
Stay up-to-date on laws and regulations trusts and estates, wealth transfer and tax-driven planning, to help wealth.com adapt to, and capitalize on, changing regulatory environments
Qualifications
J.D. degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school
Active law license in at least one U.S. state, in good standing
Minimum 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney
Strong experience, specifically within trusts and estates
Bonus, but not required: Commercial contracting, Data privacy, Investment Advisor Regulation and Compliance
Ability to travel at least once a month for two to five business days (U.S. only) to engage with prospects and customers
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to articulate complex legal concepts to non-attorneys
Proactive, entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset with a passion for new areas of business and technology development in legaltech and artificial intelligence
Excellent judgment and aptitude for optimization given ambiguous and imperfect information
A natural leader and resourceful self-starter who excels at driving projects to completion, adeptly balancing competing objectives, learning rapidly, and thinking creatively
Ability to collaborate with and build strong relationships across departments
Demonstrated experience in business development and/or a strong desire to be a public-facing advocate for wealth.com
