Purpose

Provide broad-based, frontline legal support for PerkinElmer’s subsidiary businesses, including Perten, Solus, Covaris and Project Farma. Key responsibilities include managing litigation, supporting employment and regulatory matters, corporate governance and entity management, reviewing, drafting and negotiating sales and service agreements, distribution agreements, direct and indirect supply agreements, non-disclosure agreements, supporting M&A activities (as needed and assigned), and advice and training on compliance programs and policies associated with all of the above.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product teams and regional commercial teams to negotiate sales / service, distribution / indirect channel, R&D, supplier and other legal agreements.
  • Draft, review and negotiate strategic business agreements and transactions.
  • Provide legal assistance to corporate functions, including human resources, Finance, HR, Tax, etc.
  • Advise the business on corporate governance, employment, compliance, privacy, antitrust, quality / regulatory and advertising / promotional matters.
  • Support disputes with third parties.
  • Manage outside counsel to defined budgets as and when engaged.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the legal department and assist as needed.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned or requested, as knowledge of the business and legal skills evolve.
  • Support business clients across multiple time zones.

Basic Qualifications

  • JD with 8-12 years prior experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate, persuade and offer creative resolutions to reach mutually acceptable compromise positions.
  • Experience with private and public tender contracting processes.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills; ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated exeperience identifying and resolving legal issues quickly and effectively.
  • Proven team player with ability to work across all levels of the organization, including multiple functional and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to determine risk exposure and advise the business in a practical manner, balancing legal risks with business needs.

Preferred Characteristics

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a clear and concise drafting style.
  • Ability to work independently; energetic and self-motivated.
  • Ability to successfully lead projects and establish cohesive, effective cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to respond to business clients’ needs outside of regular business hours.
  • MS Word and Excel command required.
  • Anticipated travel < 5%.

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $170,000 to $200,000. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
