Assess, design and improve AWS/Azure cloud environments for security, cost, networking, storage, serverless and containerized deployments. Provide L2+ incident support, create SOPs, mentor junior staff, support Linux/Windows servers, document architecture, participate in governance/change processes, and join a 24/7 on-call rotation.
This is a remote position.
Responsibilities:
- be able to assess the current AWS environment and make recommendations as it grows related to: security/permissions, networking, storage, uptime/down time, server-less, and containerized environments and cost effectiveness.
- work very closely with the development team on configuration changes and aid in the development of level one team members to expand their knowledge base and impact of the operating environment.
- serve as level 2+ support for incidents and creating standard operating procedures for level 1 support teams.
- assist in the support of Linux/Windows OS, architecture and building of services and conducting patching, upgrades, capacity planning, backup strategies, and integration planning and execution is a plus. This includes maintenance, enhancements, upgrades and tuning across multiple functional environments.
Qualifications/Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience engineering and deploying AWS and Azure based environments:. Developing and maintaining applications built on Amazon VPC, EC2, AWS Lambda, Amazon EFS/EBS/S3, ELB, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Cloud Formation, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SNS, and AWS databases such as RDS and Redshift.
- Experience with AWS and Azure environment design, and architecture, including assessing costs and security.
- 5+ years of hands on experience with Windows and Linux Server Administration and Engineering, both on-prem and in the cloud.
- Knowledge in development languages such as Node.js, Python, Ruby etc. as it relates to serverless & scripting
- Knowledge of security controls, how to administer standards, controls, procedures, and create required documentation (e.g. SOX, PII & PCI).
- Experience working with software development teams and CI/CD/Devops familiarity.
- Excellent project management, verbal and written communication skills, and customer service skills.
- Have the ability to:
- Perform large scale design and implementation of cloud infrastructure projects, technical processes and procedures as they relate to cloud engineering
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement of cloud technologies
- Document cloud architecture and related processes using Microsoft Visio or a similar tool
- Work with minimal supervision and take ownership of problems and/or issues and ensures timely resolution
- Act as escalation point and mentor for junior level staff, providing direction and guidance when necessary
- Be part of IT Governance and Change Management processes
- Ensure all infrastructure components meet proper performance and capacity standards
- Participate in a 24/7 On-Call rotation to address and resolve technical escalations
