The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will be a key member of the Building Construction Products (BCP) Marketing & Sales organization, driving the next generation of analytics at Caterpillar. This role will focus heavily on Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) analytics to support S&OP improvement projects, partnering closely with the corporate S&OP team, the BCP S&OP team, and the BCP facilities team.
Role Summary: The successful candidate will combine advanced technical skills with deep business acumen to transform complex S&OP datasets such as inventory, forecasting, pipeline, and more into actionable insights that improve business decision making and performance. This position requires a technically sound analyst who can learn the business quickly and design data solutions that align with global data quality and reporting standards, including integration into our global centralized data analytics platform.

What You'll Do (Job Duties)
- Partner with S&OP and Marketing & Sales leaders to translate business questions into technical data requirements and deliver flexible, sustainable data products.
- Develop engaging, actionable, and visually compelling dashboards and reports using Power BI that support S&OP decision-making.
- Analyze and model complex, multi-source datasets (MOS, sales, inventory, forecasting, pipeline) to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Build automated data pipelines leveraging SQL, Python, and cloud data services (Snowflake preferred).
- Ensure global standardization in data quality, reporting, and user experience across the business.
- Collaborate with data engineers, scientists, and analysts to develop advanced analytics, automation, and AI-driven solutions to improve business KPIs.
- Support the migration and integration of S&OP data into other data hubs.
- Serve as a mentor to junior analysts and citizen developers, creating resources, standards, and training to advance the analytics strategy.
What You Have (Core Skills)
- Business Data Analysis: Highly skilled in using SQL, Dashboards (Tableau, Power BI), Python, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Snowflake or cloud data services. Highly skilled in data analytics techniques, automation, data science, and AI to drive business KPI results.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy, ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. Project management skills, process/LEAN savvy.
- Effective Communications: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external business partners including senior leaders. Excellent human relations skills to develop a collaborative environment with leadership and key stakeholders.
- Business Assessment: Knowledge of the activities, tasks, practices and deliverables for assessing and documenting business opportunities; ability to assess the benefits, risks, and success factors of potential applications.
- Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
- Research Analysis: Knowledge of the concepts, methodologies and methods of research analysis; ability to locate, interpret and evaluate research findings compiled and documented by others.
