ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the W&L Commercial Director in UK, Ireland, and being part of the European Commercial team, this role will need an experienced individual with a passion for hunting new business and closing deals who can shape opportunities for customers to meet the demands of our growing Warehousing & Logistics Business.

The role will focus on the UK & Irish markets leading the sales work to deliver our ambitious growth targets and meet the corporate objectives of the W&L business.

The role will provide crucial industry experience to develop and refine solutions for customers, working with Operational colleagues to ensure we can meet client needs with the right commercial solution.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies and tactics to identify, acquire and retain new business in addition to effective management of RFQ opportunities. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with customers and partners.

Typical objectives for the role will include:

  • Identify opportunities through cold calling, networking, follow-ups, inbound leads and referrals, and developing these opportunities into new business wins
  • Build, manage and nurture a sales pipeline of interested prospects
  • Maintain, forecast, pipeline and status updates in CRM
  • Conduct research meetings with customers to understand the customer's organisation, requirements and business objectives
  • Present solution proposal and commercial proposal to decision makers, engage in negotiations and close the deal
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including; Commercial and Operations to qualify and ensure the successful onboarding of new customers
  • Raise awareness of brand and attend Networking Events

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Contract Logistics Business Development, preferably in a mix of organisations and sectors, including:

  • Working on large and complex projects
  • Has a experience of commercial pricing and financial structures of contracts
  • Confident to build and self-generate a pipeline of new customers
  • Ability to negotiate with key stakeholders and close deals
  • Track record of achieving sales targets and increasing revenue
  • Track record of closing large, recurring deals with customers
  • Track record of developing complex logistics solutions for customer, subsequently turning into sales
  • Be used to working in a global organisation and collaborative matrix structure
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
