Job Description:

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our AWS cloud infrastructure while also serving as a senior generalist across our broader IT infrastructure, including Windows and Linux server environments, networking, identity, and endpoint security. This role blends hands-on cloud architecture and automation with day-to-day systems administration, taking ownership of both our cloud and on-premises environments.

The ideal candidate is passionate about modernizing infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code and automation, while also being comfortable diagnosing and resolving complex issues across servers, networks, and endpoints. This role also mentors junior cloud engineers, systems administrators, and technical support specialists, and partners closely with architects and engineers on proofs of concept and key infrastructure initiatives.

Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure using Terraform and AWS best practices

Implement and manage AWS multi-account environments via Control Tower

Administer cloud-based infrastructure across AWS (primary) and our minor Azure footprint, including instance management, storage scaling, and cost monitoring

Assist in the transition from traditional server-based architectures to serverless solutions using AWS Lambda

Automate infrastructure deployment and application delivery using GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines

Manage and maintain Windows and Linux server environments, both on-premises and in the cloud

Manage user lifecycles, permissions, and security groups using Okta and local Active Directory

Administer endpoint management through Kandji (macOS) and ManageEngine Endpoint Central (Windows)

Support integration of infrastructure with Okta for identity and access management, including Conditional Access policies

Support the rollout and ongoing administration of Zscaler for secure network access

Coordinate with our SecOps team to ensure SentinelOne coverage extends across servers and endpoints

Configure and manage core AWS networking and edge security services (VPC, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, ELB, WAF), as well as office networking components including firewalls, VLANs, and hardware inventory

Administer and support database technologies including MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL

Execute routine security updates, firmware updates, and vulnerability patching across servers and network hardware

Monitor and test backup operations, ensuring DR protocols are functional and meet RPO/RTO targets

Migrate workloads from existing environments into new AWS accounts, ensuring minimal downtime

Diagnose hardware, software, network, and system issues, documenting resolutions and assessing business impact

Monitor and optimize infrastructure for performance, security, and cost efficiency, implementing improvements as needed

Architect solutions based on business processes and best practices, optimizing for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency

Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure issues

Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of our infrastructure architecture, procedures, and SOPs
