Develops, builds, tests, commissions, maintains, and repairs building automation and controls systems for HVAC, lighting, power, and monitoring. Diagnoses complex system malfunctions, responds to BAS emergencies, prepares service documentation, and supports customer relationships. Requires extensive experience across multiple BAS platforms, commercial HVAC and controls, electrical systems, and technical schematics. The role may involve moderate physical effort, construction-related hazards, and exposure to varying environmental conditions.
JOB SUMMARY
Our Senior Automation and Controls Specialists are instrumental in building long-term customer relations, solving problems, and making recommendations to improve customer systems. They will develop, build, test, and commission building systems such as HVAC, lighting, power, and monitoring.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, build, test, and commission building controls systems
- Diagnose and repair controls systems malfunctions
- Conduct BAS installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, and service
- Respond to BAS emergencies during off hours
- Prepare documentation and reports of work status and completion
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience- At least 7 years of experience with three (3) or more BAS controls platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Trane, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, or Distech.
- At least 5 years of experience in building and testing building automation and controls systems in a bench environment or live facility
- Working knowledge of: installation, operation, and repair of commercial HVAC equipment and control equipment / software
- Working knowledge of computerized electrical circuits and systems.
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to apply automation solutions and troubleshoot complex problems on automated equipment that is new and existing
- Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, network and wiring schematics, drawings, and diagrams
- Ability to manage professional email communications
- Ability to manage and maintain a calendar and task management systems
- Ability to present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customer and co-workers
- Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic and timeliness
- Must uphold company values and demand the highest level of conduct from self and others
- Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Willingness to market and promote McKenney’s services
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ Certification
- Niagara AX or N4 TCP Certification
- Computer networking experience
- Java or SQL programming language experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS
- Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
- Work environment involves moderate exposure to construction warehouse hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Moderate physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 75 pounds and extensive sitting. Some walking and standing.
