Position Summary
The Application/Production Support team within the Caremark Member Operations, Business Data Services (BDS), supports multiple technologies with primary platforms including SQL Server, SSRS and SSIS. As a professional-level independent contributor, you will work as a Senior Application/Production Support Engineer and be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, quality testing, and ensuring the production readiness of numerous internal CVS Health source data system extract files, as well as providing application support for several internal .NET applications.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide on-call support, monitor batch jobs, troubleshoot problems, and perform Root Cause Analysis.
- Troubleshoot and optimize database queries.
- Maintain SOPs and run books, including completing technical requirements, and testing.
- Act as a liaison with DBA and server teams, manage code promotion releases, and provide application support.
- Have the technical expertise to provide data modeling and design guidelines and best practices
- Responsible for database structures/designs to support Reporting Development in a high-performing and highly engaged reporting team within a PBM business operations environment.
- Provide direction in data integration standards, frameworks and best practices related to ETL and storage/management technologies.
- Possess the necessary architectural principles and techniques that will span across master data, transaction data and derived/analytic data.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in using the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, including efficient use of filtering, sorting, pivot tables, PowerQuery, PowerPivot, and common formulas for data analysis.
- 5 years working with SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, Visual Studio) and Business Intelligence Tools (Tableau, etc.) Proficiency with writing SQL/T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views for adhoc, recurring standard reports or file builds.
- 5 years of exposure to multiple RDBMS, as well as complex SQL Report Development skills across a variety of DB platforms
- 3 years developing in modern BI tools like Tableau, PowerBI, MicroStrategy and other development tools like Gitlab or Github.
- 3 years supporting .NET applications including but not limited to technologies like VB, HTML, CSS and Javascript.
- Strong ability to debug SSIS Packages in SQL Server and Visual Studio, identifying problem, isolating the source of the problem, and determining a work around solution.
- Strong technical understanding of data integration standards, frameworks and best practices; especially as they relate to ETL development.
- Strong technical understanding of data modeling, design and architecture principles and techniques across master data, transaction data and derived/analytic data; strong technical expertise in data storage/management technologies.
- Experience crafting and optimizing table structures, queries, and views to support data processing and reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability innovate automated solutions using tools like Python, Batch, or PowerShell scripts.
- Regular communication with technical, vendor, application and PBM operations staff to ensure reporting database integrity with multiple systems-of-record data extracts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in operationalizing data governance and data quality through metadata.
- Exposure in PBM business operations environment.
- Experience using GitLab or GitHub for collaborative coding, repository management, and workflow automation.
- Exposure in supporting ETL solutions built on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Familiarity with the big data solutions and products available in the market
- Strong understanding in creating and deploying best big data practices and methodologies
- Familiarity with healthcare analysis and process. Exposure to the Health Care Domain involving the services to policy holders, claims, eligibility, coverage and various healthcare plans.
- Experience using quantitative skills with the ability to link product design and features to strategic objectives while using hard data and metrics to substantiate assumptions and recommendations
- Coordinate with project supervisors and business heads and manages all projects regarding enterprise data
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Oversee and monitor all frameworks to manage data across organization.
- 3 years of Data Architecture experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science is preferred

The typical pay range for this role is:
$46,988.00 - $112,200.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
