ServiceTrade, a leading SaaS based solution, is seeking a highly capable individual for our dynamic organization. As a Senior Apple IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the primary hardware and software provided by IT to our employees and contractors. You will be largely autonomous, but will have exceptional support to the level you desire or need depending on fluctuating workloads. You will work alongside several teams from IT Operations to Site Reliability to Revenue Operations to assure that our staff have the best tools and the best support.
This is an in-office position at our Durham, NC headquarters with flexibility for remote work at management’s discretion.

About you:
We are looking for a dedicated Senior Apple IT Systems Administrator to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will be the primary architect and guardian of our Apple ecosystem. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of all Apple hardware—including Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs—ensuring they are secure, up-to-date, and optimized for our employees' productivity.
The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise with Apple platforms and enjoys staying current with Apple ecosystem tools and best practices. General experience in various aspects of systems administration should include diagnostics, imaging, Mobile Device Management (MDM), automated deployment, and macOS/iOS security hardening. Some network systems experience is necessary, but our networks (office and cloud) are fairly built out and stable despite our staff growth. SaaS systems management is also a key need, as we implement and manage hundreds of different software tools.
We’re looking for a deep troubleshooter who takes ownership of problems end‑to‑end and ensures our staff are fully supported and problems are fully and completely resolved

Demonstrating a wide range of skills and general knowledge about endpoints, networks, cloud systems, SaaS management as a base, then leveraging AI to accelerate more narrow problem solving and personal learning is the secret sauce / IT superpower that the most successful administrators will exhibit.
Key Responsibilities & Activities:
- Process Management: Iterate on existing processes and author/develop new ones.
- Documentation: Build and improve documentation, both for end users (“Help Center” style) and internal (“SOP” style).
- Device Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of all Apple hardware (macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS).
- Zero-Touch Deployment: Maintain and optimize Apple Business Manager (ABM) and Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) to provide a seamless "out-of-the-box" experience for new hires.
- Software Packaging & Patching
- Manage OS update cycles to ensure security compliance without disrupting workflow.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and monitor security baseline configurations (CIS, SOC, and similar benchmarks).
- Office infrastructure Support: Maintain Apple TVs, Conference room equipment, UniFi Networks & Wireguard VPN servers.
- Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate asset database and manage the hardware lifecycle, from procurement to repair to upgrade to sales/recovery.
- SaaS systems and lifecycle. Manage onboarding, offboarding, permissions, requests, and general administration of 200+ SaaS systems, from commonly used modern workspace tools (such as Slack, Notion, Jira) to more obscure developer tools.
- Manage SAML SSO for our apps / tech stack.
- AI-empowered. Utilize Notion AI, Gemini, and other AI tools to speed up scripting and other workflows, to rapidly build and upgrade documentation, and to compliment your existing systems knowledge for fast answers.
- Change Management. Communicates changes effectively and helps others adopt new tools and processes.
- Other duties as necessary.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Apple Experience: 5 years of experience administering Apple Systems in a business/workplace context, such as: corporate, education, or retail environments.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: 3–5+ years of hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience.
MDM Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of at least one major MDM platform or comparable concept (zero-touch or light-touch mass management of many machines). - Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in ZSH or Bash for automating system tasks and customizing user experience.
Apple Ecosystem & Architecture: Deep understanding of macOS & iOS, APNs (Apple Push Notification service), VPP (Volume Purchase Program), and DDM (Declarative Device Management). - Networking Fundamentals: Strong grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPN, and certificate management in macOS environments.
- AI & Emerging Tools: Regular use of AI tools for productivity, automation, troubleshooting, and coding assistance (e.g., chatbots, MCP, agentic AI).
- SaaS & Integration Management: SaaS Management platform experiences (1Password SaaS Manager/Trelica, Vendr) is a plus.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelors in Science or technical program.
- Apple Certified IT Professional (preferred).
- Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (preferred).
- General IT certifications are a plus.
