Senior Staff Software Engineer – API Platform Enablement
We’re hiring a hands-on Senior Staff Engineer to join our API platform and enablement team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of full-stack development, API-centric integration, and cloud-native engineering—and who is passionate about improving the developer experience across the enterprise.
What You’ll Do
- Engineer APIs and Integrations: Design and build scalable APIs and app-centric integrations using platforms like Apigee, AWS API Gateway, and Google Cloud. Apply deep knowledge of REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI, and API security (OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect).
- Enable Developer Experience: Create self-service tools, CI/CD pipelines, and onboarding accelerators that reduce toil and empower teams to own their APIs end-to-end.
- Coach and Connect: Lead by example in forums, sprint reviews, and office hours. Share best practices, mentor engineers, and foster a strong engineering community.
- Drive Reliability: Apply SRE principles to ensure platform and integration reliability. Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations as a subject matter expert for incidents and changes.
- Automate and Optimize: Champion automation in testing, deployment, and governance. Build observability into everything you deliver using tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, and CloudWatch.
- Innovate and Experiment: Lead technical Proof of Concepts (POCs), including GenAI use cases, to explore new capabilities and improve platform offerings.
What You Bring
- Full-stack engineering experience with backend and frontend technologies (e.g., Java, Python, React).
- API expertise: Deep experience with API lifecycle management, API platforms (Apigee, AWS API Gateway), and integration patterns.
- Cloud fluency: Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
- DevOps mindset: Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, and automated testing frameworks.
- Bias for action: You automate toil, reduce friction, and continuously improve developer workflows.
- Community builder: You coach, mentor, and elevate others—through documentation, forums, and peer engagement.

- Strong communication skills and ability to coach engineers and foster technical community.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the insurance industry and productization of insurance business capabilities.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Generative AI (GenAI) and Agentic AI. Experience with low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Suite).
- Knowledge of observability tools: Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch.
