Senior Analyst, Contract Negotiator

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

We are seeking a Senior Analyst, Contract Negotiator to join our global contracting team. This role is ideal for a commercially minded professional who enjoys negotiating agreements, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting complex energy transactions across international markets.

In this role, you will partner closely with Trading, Risk, Legal, Credit, and Commercial teams to negotiate and execute contracts that support the company's global commodities business across oil, natural gas, and power markets.

What You'll DoContract Negotiation & Commercial Support
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and amend a variety of commercial agreements and trading contracts.
  • Support new business opportunities by ensuring contracts accurately reflect commercial terms and company objectives.
  • Negotiate contractual provisions with customers, suppliers, and counterparties while balancing commercial and risk considerations.
  • Provide contract guidance and support to internal stakeholders throughout the deal lifecycle.
Contract Management & Compliance
  • Maintain and administer contract templates, standard terms, and contractual documentation.
  • Ensure agreements comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and business processes.
  • Monitor contractual obligations and support ongoing compliance activities.
  • Maintain accurate contract records and documentation in accordance with company retention policies.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with Trading, Legal, Credit, Risk, Operations, and Commercial teams across global regions.
  • Respond to contract-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Verify corporate structures, legal entities, and counterparty information as part of the contracting process.
  • Support strategic initiatives, process improvements, and special projects as needed.
Process Improvement & Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to streamline contract processes and improve efficiency.
  • Leverage technology, automation, and digital tools to enhance contracting workflows.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support a scalable and high-performing contracting function.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience negotiating commercial contracts, business agreements, or legal documentation.
  • Strong understanding of contract terms, commercial risk, and business law principles.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting energy, commodities, trading, or financial services businesses.
  • Exposure to international contracting and cross-border commercial agreements.
  • Experience negotiating supply agreements, trading confirmations, retail agreements, or long-form commercial contracts.
  • Familiarity with global oil, natural gas, or power markets.
