How You Will Contribute:
We are looking for an experienced, self-motivating and proactive individual that will be responsible for driving marketing strategy, developing collateral and becoming a spokesperson around Ciena’s emerging high-speed interconnect offerings, which may include coherent ASICs, high-speed SerDes and optical components.  Activities include market penetration and expansion strategies, product and solutions marketing, events support and external communications. This individual has the opportunity to play a leading role in developing the company narrative as Ciena enters this new market, identify and support new business development opportunities, and will work as an advocate for Ciena's high-speed interconnect offerings externally with Ciena partners and media/analysts, as well as internally within Ciena. Requires strong liaison with Product Line Management, R&D, Sales and the Marketing organization. Ideally this role will sit in Ottawa, Ontario, but will consider an exceptional candidate based in North America.

  • Support the development and implementation of go-to-market initiatives to help grow market share globally for Ciena’s high-speed interconnect offerings.

  • Collaborate and formulate strategies that ultimately lead to growth in mindshare and demand for Ciena's high-speed interconnect offerings. 

  • Support the marketing strategy with press, analyst, event marketing and lead generation programs.

  • Use market, customer and competitive input to develop appropriate positioning for the portfolio. Create compelling digital and other marketing content targeted and written to the right audiences to create demand for Ciena offerings.

  • Support Ciena's presence at tradeshows, industry forums, analyst and partner events, as required.

  • You will be collaborating with Product Line Management and Marketing teams to ensure alignment of go-to-market strategies with both business and corporate objectives. You will also be interfacing regularly with R&D organization to ensure accuracy of marketing content and materials.

  • You will be instrumental in opening up a new market and revenue streams for Ciena, the direct sale of stand-alone coherent modems and components to new geographies and new buyers.

The Must Haves:

  • Expertise in SerDes, coherent optical components, coherent ASICs, and optical networking solutions.

  • Strong understanding of customer requirements for both data center architectures as well as optical networking.

  • Proven track record of working in a team-oriented environment while leveraging remote resources.   

  • Proven track record of presentation, interpersonal, and communications skills (internal/external).

  • Proven track record of excellent writing skills for creating/editing meaningful content for specific audiences of buyers and industry influencers (ex. blogs, white papers, presentations, success stories, case studies).

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to execute and drive deliverables and initiatives to closure.

  • Flexible individual capable of handling multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Pay Range: 

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $126, 800 - $202, 600 CAD.
The annual pay range for this position in the US is $150, 000 - $239, 600 USD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
