Position Summary
The Senior Actuarial Specialist is a subject-matter expert supporting the launch, growth, and profitability of a fast-growing E&S insurance portfolio. This is a high-impact individual contributor role responsible for complex pricing analyses, pricing tool development, and portfolio analytics in an environment where products, processes, and systems continue to evolve. The role operates with a high degree of independence and judgment, partnering closely with Underwriting, Product, Claims, and Technology to support data-driven pricing decisions and scalable growth for ICW’s new Specialty business.
This role is critical to enabling disciplined, profitable growth of the company’s E&S portfolio. The Senior Actuarial Specialist provides the analytical foundation for pricing decisions, product development, and portfolio management while helping establish scalable pricing processes in a rapidly evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing & Product Development
Support development and enhancement and maintenance of pricing tools and methodologies for E&S product lines.
Perform pricing reviews for large, complex individual accounts in close partnership with E&S underwriters.
Evaluate and refine pricing assumptions based on industry benchmark data and competitive analysis.
Serve as a subject-matter expert on third party data products, conducting analysis to inform pricing and underwriting decisions.
Prioritize and independently execute actuarial projects based on evolving business needs.
Portfolio Analytics & Performance Monitoring
Build and maintain business reports to monitor rate change, loss ratios, and portfolio profitability.
Analyze portfolio performance across geographies, industries, and segments to identify growth and remediation opportunities.
Support quarterly planning efforts, including loss ratio projections and portfolio monitoring.
Partner with Finance, Reserving, and Reinsurance to support capital modeling and strategic decision-making.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence
Act as a trusted actuarial partner to Product, Underwriting, and Claims teams to shape strategies and ensure profitability targets are achieved.
Translate complex actuarial findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Provide actuarial input and technical leadership in cross-functional initiatives impacting pricing, profitability and growth.
Process, Model and Tool Development
Design, build, and document actuarial pricing models, tools, and processes to improve accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.
Collaborate with developers and analysts to automate workflows and improve access to actuarial data.
Provide business requirements for system integration and set up data export functions for data reporting.
Contribute to the enhancement of data infrastructure and visualization platforms (e.g., SQL, Power BI).
Qualifications
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s degree required in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s or other advanced degree preferred.
ACAS designation strongly preferred, but relevant work experience may be considered.
Experience
Minimum 5-7+ years of actuarial experience in P&C insurance, with a strong focus on pricing and/or technical modeling.
Demonstrated success in Commercial Lines (GL, Commercial Auto, etc.) and/or E&S market environments.
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in fast-growing or evolving business environments.
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel; strong working knowledge of Python and SQL.
Expert in actuarial and statistical modeling techniques. Experienced with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Strong understanding of rating structures, pricing methodologies, and insurance operations.
Strong technical pricing skills with knowledge of exposure-based pricing, experience modelling, catastrophe modelling and stochastic simulation techniques.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex actuarial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently while contributing to team initiatives.

Strong judgment and accountability in high-impact analytical work.

The current range for this position is
$121,624.81 - $217,710.99This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
