In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

Leads the IBC strategic segments team including sales activities related to products, programs, systems, and services within the defined industry segment(s) for the United States. This position ensures that the IBC organization substantially improves their sales, margins, market share, and customer satisfaction in the selected market segments. Works with each segment leader to develop and implement a market-based strategy specific to that segment including direct, third party, and project sales. Drives and enhances cross-division and cross-region business-led collaborations for the specific market segment.

The work model for the role is: remote (#Li-Remote) and can be located anywhere, but ideally central and eastern time zones.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute segment strategy: Partner with segment leaders to design, implement, and review long‑term, market‑aligned strategies and value propositions; map market needs to actionable plans and ensure accurate reporting on pipeline, performance, product gaps, and trends.

  • Drive profitable growth & market presence: Focus on penetration, innovation, and expansion across key segments (e.g., Automotive, Semiconductor, Water/Wastewater, Pulp & Paper, EV Grid to Charger), reinforce ABB’s visibility through external engagement, and support Sales in strengthening customer perception.

  • Strengthen customer, market, and organizational relationships: Build strategic relationships with key customers and influencers, identify and prioritize major accounts, share market intelligence with divisions, and promote cross-division and cross-country collaboration to maximize opportunities.

  • Lead and develop high-performing teams: Manage segment team performance, ensure ABB is well‑represented in target markets, and drive continuous skill development, organizational effectiveness, and knowledge sharing across teams.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, preferably in Engineering

  • 15+ years of relevant experience (Segment management, Business Development or Sales Leadership experience helpful)

  • Experience in developing C-level relationships, being an advocate for the customer and strong skills in communication, negotiation, influence and stakeholder management.

  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements into actionable solutions, strong analytical thinking and commercial acumen to create a business aligned strategy.

  • Self-driven, resilient, energetic, enthusiastic, and inclusive; creating or responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs as well as managing ambiguity; results oriented execution mindset is important

  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $163,500 and $261,600 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
