The role:
SoFi is adding an SEC Reporting Manager to its dynamic Controllership team to lead and support its public company external financial reporting requirements.
The right candidate will have relevant experience in the preparation and/or review of quarterly (e.g. earnings,10-Q) and annual (e.g.10-K) SEC reporting requirements, coupled with a strong understanding of the SEC regulations and US GAAP. Additionally, this individual will demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork and a positive, solution-oriented approach when collaborating across departments, readily offering support and embracing new challenges.
The SEC Reporting Manager will be responsible for leading the preparation and/or review of SoFi TechnologiesSEC filings and will work closely with the broader Controllership organization to ensure compliance with the Company’s SEC and US GAAP reporting requirements.
This position will report to the SEC Reporting Director and will be part of the SoFi’s Accounting, SEC reporting, and Policy Controllership Team.
What you’ll do:
- Play an integral role in the Company’s preparation of its consolidated financial statements and footnote disclosures on a quarterly and annual basis under public company accounting standards
- Complete disclosures and prepare relevant support for complex accounting areas, which may include earnings per share, segment reporting, derivatives and equity / share-based compensation
- Review other disclosure areas prepared by senior and staff accountants; assist in team member development
- Prepare and/or review disclosure checklists to ensure all disclosure requirements are met; research disclosure requirements and stay abreast of new pronouncements impacting disclosures
- Review financial statement tie-outs for the financial statement audit and review procedures
- Contribute to the team’s efforts to enhance its financial reporting processes and procedures, and help identify opportunities for optimization. Support the development and implementation of solutions, such as through the use of automation tools
- Collaborate and support alignment with cross-functional teams, including our regulatory reporting, finance, and investor relations partners
- Support other team responsibilities, requests, and adhoc tasks, which may include peer company analysis, ERP system management, regulatory reporting support, investor relations support, proxy statement, significant transaction support, etc.
- Serve as a point of contact for external auditors on financial statement disclosure questions
What you’ll need:
- 6+ years of public company financial reporting experience within the financial services / banking industry, with a background in a public company environment and Big 4 accounting firm or large regional firm preferred
- Active CPA license; Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting, finance or related field
- Knowledge of SEC regulations and US GAAP, and research experience in the applicable literature
Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills - Proactive mindset and ability to work independently, while also operating as part of a collaborative team
- Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and partnerships, including technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work within a deadline-driven environment and digest complex information efficiently, with rigorous attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities and workstreams effectively
- Positive attitude, and willingness to learn
Nice to have:
- Understanding of bank regulations & banking industry
- Previous people management experience
- Workiva (Wdesk/Wdata) experience
- Experience in the FinTech and/or Software industry
