About the Role

We are looking for a Network Automation Engineer to help build and scale automation across our enterprise network environment. You’ll combine strong networking knowledge with software and automation skills to reduce manual work, improve network reliability, and enable API-driven operations. A key part of the role will be developing and operating our Network Source of Truth (SSoT/NSoT) using Nautobot, and integrating it with network infrastructure, automation, observability, and other enterprise platforms. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving real network problems with Python, APIs, Ansible, Git, and modern automation practices, not simply administering network devices.

What Success Looks Like

Requirements

  • Design and build network automation for provisioning, configuration, validation, migrations, and operational workflows.
  • Help lead the implementation and ongoing development of Nautobot as the Network Source of Truth.
  • Integrate Nautobot and other network platforms using REST APIs, GraphQL, and Python.
  • Develop reusable automation using Python, Ansible, Jinja2, Terraform, and related technologies.
  • Automate synchronization and validation of network inventory, IPAM, configuration, and operational data.
  • Build automated pre-change and post-change validation to make network changes safer and more reliable.
  • Apply Git, CI/CD, testing, and Infrastructure as Code practices to network automation.
  • Integrate automation with network management, observability, and enterprise platforms.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues spanning networks, automation, APIs, and data.
  • Partner with network architects, engineering and operations teams to identify opportunities for automation and improve how the network is operated.
  • Evaluate and prototype emerging network automation technologies and capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of network engineering, network automation, or related experience in large enterprise environments.
  • Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing and switching, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, and IPAM.
  • Strong Python development or scripting skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible or similar automation platforms.
  • Experience building integrations using REST APIs and working with JSON/YAML.
  • Experience with a network Source of Truth, IPAM, DCIM, or inventory platform, ideally Nautobot or NetBox.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience automating network technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, F5, or similar.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, architecture, operations, and technology teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience developing Nautobot Jobs, Apps/plugins, APIs, GraphQL integrations, or data models.
  • Experience with NetBox, Nornir, Netmiko, NAPALM, pyATS, Jinja2, or similar automation technologies.
  • Familiarity with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and Linux environments.
  • Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Knowledge of VXLAN/EVPN, controller-based networking, intent-based networking, or SDN.
  • Relevant Cisco, Juniper, DevNet, cloud, or automation certifications.

You’ll help move network operations from manual, device-by-device processes toward automated, data-driven workflows, with Nautobot serving as a trusted source of network data and APIs, automation, validation, and CI/CD providing the foundation for scalable network operations.
