The Sciences Chief Engineer Leader manages a team of Science Chief Engineers, driving performance management, talent development, and technical strategy to ensure successful product execution and cross-functional collaboration.
Job Description SummaryThe Sciences Chief Engineer Leader is responsible for the people leadership, organizational effectiveness, and operating rigor of the Science Chief Engineer Team. This role leads a team of Science Chief Engineers and ensures they are aligned, developed, and supported to deliver strong technical leadership across science-based innovation, technical strategy, critical design and technology decisions, and product execution.
This leader serves as a key member of the Chief Engineers Office leadership team and partners closely with Product Chief Engineers, Module Chief Engineers, engineering functional leaders, program leaders, and business stakeholders to ensure effective integration of science-based technical leadership across the product portfolio. The role is accountable for building team capability, driving consistency in operating mechanisms, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, and enabling high-quality technical and business outcomes.Job Description
For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $166,000.00 and $276,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Science Chief Engineers.
- Drive performance management, talent development, succession planning, and hiring.
- Establish clear goals, role clarity, and effective operating rhythms for the team.
- Build consistency in how Science Chief Engineers drive innovation, technical decisions, and risk management.
- Partner with Product and Module Chief Engineers to ensure alignment across technical leadership roles.
- Identify organizational, capability, and resource gaps and work with leadership to address them.
- Support cross-functional collaboration and resolution of complex technical and organizational issues.
- Lead continuous improvement and organizational change efforts within the Chief Engineers Office.
- Develop direct interaction with GE Vernova ARC Science Technology counterparts
- Develop operating rhythm to ensure Chief Engineers are technical leads on team’s hardest challenges
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related technical field or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in engineering, applied science, product development, or technical leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant technical field or business.
- Experience as a Chief Engineer, Science Chief Engineer, or senior technical leader.
- Experience in complex, highly engineered, or regulated industries.
- Demonstrated experience leading senior technical professionals in a matrixed environment.
- Strong communication, coaching, and cross-functional leadership skills.
