Administer and support production SAP S/4HANA landscapes on SAP Cloud ERP Private. Responsibilities include incident response, root-cause analysis, transport management, SAP Security Note assessment and implementation, monitoring, housekeeping, Linux and database patching, and blue/green HANA System Replication takeovers. The consultant will maintain operational runbooks, support SAP BTP integrations, participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, and establish operating procedures for a new US federal government landscape.

SAP Basis Consultant (L3)
3Core Systems runs managed application services for SAP S/4HANA landscapes on SAP Cloud ERP Private, including sovereign-cloud deployments. We are hiring a senior Basis consultant to run technical operations on those landscapes.
Your primary assignment is a newly onboarding US federal government end client, delivered under a major SAP partner acting as prime contractor. It is a greenfield landscape going live in mid-2026 — you will help establish how it is operated rather than inherit a runbook. You will also support other CAS engagements and share the practice on-call rotation.
This is a run role, not a project role: keeping production healthy, patched, and available.
Responsibilities
- Run, incident and root cause: Continuous Basis administration of S/4HANA on SAP Cloud ERP Private. Triage application Basis incidents falling outside the hosting provider's baseline product services; perform RCA and propose resolution, engaging SAP Product Support or cloud operations where the fault is platform-side.
- Transport, landscape and change: Maintain the transport and deployment landscape and execute transport requests. Maintain technical integration with adjacent SAP cloud applications, including SAP BTP. Fulfil preapproved standard changes, and non-preapproved configuration changes once client approved.
- Security patching and monitoring: Analyze SAP Security Notes on the monthly SAP Patch Tuesday cadence and deliver the applicability assessment within 24–48 hours of release a committed turnaround. Implement approved notes to an agreed SOP. Operate proactive monitoring via SAP Focused Run: health, job, integration, and exception monitoring; ABAP security parameters and privileges; ABAP work-process response time; data growth. Remediate alerts in scope. Proactive housekeeping of technical application data and logs.
- Near-zero-downtime patching (blue/green): Operate and validate SAP HANA System Replication between primary and secondary production systems. Execute monthly OS and quarterly database patching via blue/green takeover; validate cluster and replication health either side of every takeover. Maintain the patching cookbook and operational runbooks to a standard another engineer can execute from.
REQUIRED
- 6+ years hands-on SAP Basis administration with recent production ownership.
- S/4HANA Basis administration in a live production landscape.
- SAP HANA administration, including configuring, validating, or operating HANA System Replication and performing takeovers.
- Transport management and multi-system landscape administration.
- Analyzing and applying SAP Security Notes — assessing applicability, not applying everything.
- Linux OS patching for SAP workloads.
- Ticket-driven support (ServiceNow or equivalent) with evidence of performing to defined reaction-time SLAs.
- Prior participation in a 24/7 production on-call rotation.
- Able to write an RCA a non-Basis reader can act on.
PREFERRED
- SAP Cloud ERP Private / RISE with SAP, and familiarity with the provider-managed vs customer-managed boundary.
- Sovereign or government cloud delivery; prior US federal or regulated-industry client.
- Linux HA clustering (Pacemaker/corosync) in an SAP context; SAP BTP integration.
- SAP certification in S/4HANA System Administration or HANA Administration.
