Job Summary

The Sales Compensation Analyst, Systems & Operations is a hands-on member of the Sales Compensation team, cross-trained across the team's core operational areas — system administration (Callidus/SAP Commissions), payment processing, accruals and reconciliation, and seller support. Because system automation doesn't cover every scenario, this role also requires strong hands-on Excel skills to independently calculate, validate, and reconcile commission and incentive payments, build supporting models, and produce audit-ready backup when the system output needs to be checked, corrected, or replicated manually. The analyst ensures the accuracy and integrity of compensation data end to end and provides reporting and analysis that supports sales, finance, and executive leadership, with a keen eye toward opportunities for process improvement and ways to automate manual work.


Key Responsibilities

Compensation Systems & Platform Administration

  • Serve as operational point of contact for the Callidus (SAP Commissions) platform, acting as backup system administrator and managing the day-to-day relationship with the implementation partner.
  • Set and lead recurring meetings with internal stakeholders on system deliverables, timelines, and open items.
  • Maintain and prioritize tracking of all Callidus configuration updates, enhancements, and defect resolutions; produce routine status reports and escalate risks proactively.
  • Test all system updates for completeness and accuracy prior to production deployment; document and communicate defects with resolution timelines.
  • Manage the annual implementation partner budget; reconcile vendor invoices against contracted deliverables and escalate anomalies to leadership.
  • Oversee the Salesforce intake queue for Account, Opportunity, and compensation-related data updates; maintain SOPs, governance approval levels, and intake procedures.
  • Contribute to the ongoing design and improvement of compensation processes, systems, plan structures, and quota/modeling tools.

Manual Calculation, Validation & Reconciliation

  • Independently calculate, validate, and reconcile commission and incentive payments in Excel when system logic cannot fully automate a scenario, ensuring every payout is accurate and audit-ready.
  • Build and maintain Excel-based models and calculators to test plan designs, quota structures, and edge cases before they are configured in Callidus.
  • Execute daily data intake audits to verify completeness and accuracy of feeds into Callidus; identify, document, and resolve data defects and processing delays with upstream teams.
  • Produce the monthly accrual file for Accounting & Finance, and extract commission calculations for management, executive, and HR payout approval.
  • Lead compensation audit workflows for specific sales representatives, and complete ad hoc audit requests in partnership with the legal team.

Reporting & Business Partnership

  • Build and maintain performance-versus-goal tracking and KPI reporting using data from Salesforce, the data warehouse, and Callidus.
  • Build Annual Comp Structure & Plan documents in partnership with Sales and Sales Operations leadership.
  • Produce performance reporting on sales initiatives and programs (promotions, new customers, program ROI) and additional ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex or time-sensitive intake requests, and resolve sales force inquiries received through compensation support channels.

Seller Support

  • Research and resolve seller compensation questions, payout discrepancies, and calculation issues.
  • Clearly explain calculation results; escalate complex plan-design or policy questions to the appropriate team member.
  • Support ad-hoc audit requests with the legal team as needed.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve process accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in automation, AI-enabled validation, and other improvements led by the team.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in sales compensation administration, sales operations, or a related analytical role.
  • Understanding of sales compensation plan mechanics and how they drive sales behavior and support broader sales organization goals.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Callidus (SAP Commissions) or a comparable incentive compensation management (ICM) platform, required.
  • Experience using Salesforce CRM for data management or operational workflows.
  • Experience in a medium to large-sized sales organization preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced Excel skills required, including complex formulas, mathematical/conditional logic, and the ability to build and troubleshoot commission calculations manually without relying on the ICM system.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy in high-volume operational environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and bring projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Clear, direct communication skills; able to translate technical system issues for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with proven follow-through on open items.
  • Comfortable cross-training and flexing across operational functions.
  • Familiarity with data or reporting tools (SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and audit-ready documentation practices preferred.

Salary may vary depending on factors such as confirmed job-related skills, experience, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case. Sales Positions are eligible for a Variable Incentive.

The pay range for this position is as follows:

$67,100-$95,800
