The Opportunity

The SandboxAQ AI Generation Engine (SAIGE) team is responsible for rapidly designing, prototyping, and validating AI-first SaaS products that leverage SandboxAQ’s Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) and emerging agentic frameworks. The team operates at high velocity, bridging cutting-edge AI research and production-grade software to unlock new use cases across the company.

SandboxAQ's AI Generation Engine (SAIGE) team is seeking a highly accomplished Risk Modeling Lead to take ownership of the revolutionary risk modeling initiatives, from initial data exploration and model development to scalable production deployment.

The Risk Modeling Lead serves as the definitive technical authority and strategic architect for the company’s risk simulation and financial simulation frameworks. As a high-level individual contributor, this role bridges the gap between complex stochastic research and production-grade analytics that drive multi-year modeling roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Modeling Roadmap: Own and execute the multi-year technical roadmap for risk modeling, translating advanced simulation and statistical methods into production-grade analytics.

  • Model Methodology & Governance: Define rigorous modeling methodologies, including assumptions, calibration, sensitivity analysis, and documentation suitable for external stakeholder and rating agency review.

  • High-Stakes Client Advisory: Serve as the primary technical lead for executive briefings and deep-dive workshops, helping stakeholders operationalize model outputs.

  • Cross-Functional Technical Lead: Partner directly with Product and Engineering teams to integrate research prototypes and custom modeling solutions into cloud-hosted simulation platforms.

  • Market Differentiation: Drive go-to-market initiatives by articulating complex model differentiation, appropriate use cases, and limitations during RFPs and technical demos.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Advanced Risk Expertise: 8+ years of experience building, validating, and deploying probabilistic risk models across natural catastrophes and cyber events.

  • PhD-Level Quantitative Foundation: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or a similarly rigorous computational field.

  • Stochastic Modeling: Proven expertise in Monte Carlo simulations, multi-parameter probability distribution models, and frequency-severity modeling.

  • Industry Platform Authority: Deep technical command of major catastrophe modeling platforms, including RMS (RiskLink), AIR (TouchStone), and KCC (RiskInsight).

  • Technical Communication: Demonstrated ability to translate highly technical simulation results for CRO/CUO audiences and senior management.

Highly Desired Skills & Experience
  • Functional Programming: Proficiency in Python and SQL.

  • Domain Expertise: Experience in financial simulation, risk modeling, or high-dimensional technical data analysis.

  • Specialized Peril Knowledge: Experience developing niche Catastrophe Models for complex perils, such as climate-change-driven hurricane projections, flood, wildfire, or severe convective storm models.

Why Join Us?

We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and life outside of work.

  • Compensation: Competitive base salary, performance-based incentives or bonuses (where applicable), and equity participation.

  • Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents with generous employer premium contributions, retirement savings with company matching, paid parental leave, and inclusive family-building benefits.

  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible paid time off, company-wide seasonal breaks, and support for flexible work arrangements that enable sustainable performance.

  • Career Development: Opportunities for continuous learning and growth through on-the-job development, cross-functional collaboration, and access to internal learning and development programs.
