We are currently seeking candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.
About This Position
Intersect’s first portfolio of assets has been completed comprising a combined 2.2GW of PV and 1.4GWh of co-located BESS capacity in CAISO and ERCOT. Multiple portfolios in various stages of planning will follow in the coming years with other PV and BESS generating assets in addition to clean energy assets including Green Hydrogen, Ammonia, and Methanol. The Market Risk team is hiring a Data Engineer & Analyst, to support the day to day risk management of our operating assets and associated trading activities in addition to building and maintaining risk management tools using Python, Plotly Enterprise, and PowerBI primarily. This role sits within the Middle Office and works closely with the Front Office, playing a key part in shaping how Intersect Power uses data and reporting to manage market and operational risk across our portfolio.
Overview of Department
The Market Risk team is responsible for measuring, monitoring, and reporting on the market risks facing Intersect Power through the development, construction, and operation of our portfolios. The team oversees mark to market valuations, value at risk, risk analytics, risk strategy in addition to curating and maintaining data and reporting on a broad array of topics. The team works collaboratively with Front and Back Offices and supports other team’s data and reporting requirements on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Collaboration with other teams on data collection, analysis, reporting initiatives, and data analytics.
- Leveraging Google Cloud environments to orchestrate ETL jobs.
- Authoring and supporting Power BI reporting across multiple teams.
- Maintaining schedules, security, controls, and documentation relating to data warehouses.
- Writing and maintaining SQL for various reporting/analytical workflows.
- Collaborating with software developers to build and deploy software using cloud-based solutions.
- Identifying, building, and maintaining API connections for key applications.
- Leveraging Intersect Power’s Trade Capture System for reporting and analytical tasks.
- Creating change management procedures for processes affecting key operational data.
- Creating and maintaining documentation of data pipelines and reporting.
- Managing, directly and indirectly, consultants and services related to Intersect Power’s data pipelines, warehouses, and reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Expert Python, BigQuery SQL, OOP, and Power BI knowledge and experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience in energy markets in a directly related role.
- Working knowledge of Plotly Enterprise is an asset.
- Experience in Google cloud environments required.
- Experience working on a data team.
- Experience and familiarity with business analysis, requirements gathering, data modeling, data warehousing, data governance, and solution and software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Undergraduate degree in computer science or related technical field.
- Some experience and familiarity with Trade Capture/Enterprise Trading and Risk Management Systems.
- Some understanding and familiarity of U.S. power and gas markets.
- Experience working on or with trading teams.

Physical & Sensory Requirements

- Salary: USD$90,000 to USD95,000 or CAD$129,000 to CAD$136,000 base salary plus a 20% annual target bonus
