Our Bankwest Risk Advisory and Operations team supports the business to achieve its objectives by providing advice and guidance that assists their decision making in a way that minimises risk. They achieve this through providing an end to end risk and control service that includes the effective design and implementation of controls, ensuring operational risk and compliance frameworks are effectively implemented and ensuring that each line of business has the right level of governance within their risk environment.

 

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and recommendations to your Leadership Team and their Colleagues to mitigate incidents, effectively manage issues, remediate customers and implement effective controls in line with the Group Policies and Frameworks.

  • Identify and assess operational and compliance risks along with co-ordination of operational risk governance activities such as the RCSA refresh. This includes management of risk profiles and completion of deep dives.

  • Track, monitor and provide accurate and timely reporting to leaders on risk issues and incidents which would include the compilation of dashboards and papers for presentation at the Portfolio Team Risk Forum.

  • Provide support and guidance to key stakeholders in relation to regulatory risk and necessary compliance activities which would include completion of compliance risk assessments.

  • Ensure appropriate actions are taken in line with the Three Lines of Defence accountability matrix and Risk Management Frameworks.

  • Support divisional leaders to foster a culture (through risk education and awareness) which promotes responsible risk management colleague behaviours.

  • Prepare information to support the strategic planning process and conduct analysis, tracking and reporting on the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS).

  • Administer governance forums, including preparation, minuting and action management.

  • Identify, lead and manage continuous improvement of the business control environment by using data to generate insights.

 

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • Demonstrated experience in operational Risk management roles within banking/financial service.

  • Strong people leadership skills, including expectation setting, coaching, and performance management.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management.

  • Ability to think critically, analytically and strategically coupled with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
