About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Retirement Development Consultant (Business Growth Strategy Consultant) in the National Sales Client Relationship Group as part of Wealth and Investment Management (WIM). In this role, consultants support Financial Advisors fielding inbound and outbound calls on annuity and retirement income products. Consultants will build collaborative relationships with annuity companies and educate Financial Advisors on appropriate retirement strategies to support clients' financial goals. In this role, you will:
  • Consult on advanced retirement cases to achieve stated sales goals. Specifically, the consultant will be handling calls on complex Retirement and Annuities cases. Consistently exhibit a thorough knowledge and understanding of the specifics of each annuity product found on the Wells Fargo Investment platform, including the ability to explain all differences in product features and performance
  • Provide annuity and retirement income support via inbound/outbound calls, team meetings, and advisor consultations
  • Deliver advanced retirement planning strategies tailored to client needs, including Social Security optimization, income layering, and tax-efficient withdrawal approaches
  • Partner with annuity carriers to stay current on product offerings and ensure accurate advisor education
  • Serve as emcee and presenter at retirement and annuity meetings, webinars, and field events
  • Collaborate with Financial Advisors to integrate annuity solutions into comprehensive retirement plans
  • Maintain deep product knowledge and support planning tools used by advisors
  • Participate in tactical projects and contribute to business growth strategy initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements
  • Track and report on key performance metrics and advisor engagement outcomes
  • Travel to field offices and advisor events as needed to support territory engagement
Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of Business Growth Strategy experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Successfully completed FINRA Series 6 (or 7) exam to qualify for immediate registration
Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of annuity products, Social Security, and retirement income strategies
  • Experience presenting or emceeing financial education events
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build advisor relationships
  • FINRA Series 63 or Series 66
  • North Carolina State Insurance License
  • Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) or Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC) designation
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to consult, build, and maintain solid working relationships in and outside of the immediate department
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to work independently

Job Expectations:
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
  • Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. FINRA Series 63 (or 66) examinations, or equivalent, along with designated insurance license requirements must be completed within a 90 or 180-day time period following commencement of employment, depending upon the number of license(s) needed if not immediately available to transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted. This will be communicated at time of offer acceptance. Compliance with state law registration and licensing requirements is mandatory. In addition to state registration and licensing requirements, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA licensing review process at the time of offer acceptance. For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite is required.
  • This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check. Internal transfers are subject to comply with 17 CFR 240.17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and FINRA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3, which states that Associated Persons should not be subject to statutory disqualification. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and are required to report certain incidents.
  • Specific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities or personal investing; affected employees will be expected to provide information to the Wells Fargo Personal Account Dealing Team and abide by applicable policy requirements if hired.
