Job Summary:

Are you passionate about scientific research and project management? Join our team within JAX Data Science as a Research Project Manager! You'll plan, facilitate, execute, and deliver projects within agreed-upon timelines, resources, and objectives. Your efforts will focus on the efficient and timely use of staff, equipment, funding, and other resources in pursuit of scientific aims defined by our project sponsors. You'll employ tools and techniques to support frequent adjustments to project timelines, priorities, and tasks, all while maintaining sight of the objectives. Your strong interpersonal skills will help establish and cultivate vibrant collaboration, communication, and cooperation among the project team members.

What You'll Contribute:

  • Project Leadership: Understand the scientific aims of sponsors and collaborators, coordinate all team members, and keep the project moving forward by identifying and addressing any blocking issues, unclear priorities, or lack of resources.
  • Project Planning: Document major objectives and milestones, define team roles and commitment levels, and work with scientific/technical leads to map out tasks and timelines.
  • Project Communication: Establish and coordinate communication methods, including regular team meetings, individual break-out meetings, and sub-team meetings. Maintain and distribute regular updates on project status to collaborators and sponsors.
  • Project Delivery: Monitor and document research objectives, task priorities, resource availability, decision points, and sponsor satisfaction.
  • Project Administration: Handle accounting activities, including monthly reporting for grants accounting and services billing.

What You're Good At:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a life science field with at least 4 years of direct experience managing projects in a scientific/research environment.
  • In-depth understanding of research methods, current topics in biomedical research, and genetics/genomics.
  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Experience in computer science, particularly software development, is preferred.
  • Experience with agile/iterative project management methods.
  • Understanding of biological science, particularly genetics and genomics, and the scientific method.
  • Excellent oral, digital, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to lead others, develop consensus, and work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Ability to manage expectations, motivate team members, and execute and deliver projects.
  • Ability to manage timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and monitor multiple projects to successful completion, adapting to shifting priorities in a high-pressure environment.

The salary range is  $63,744 - $106,723. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.
